Similar size though shorter than you. I’ve spent too days presenting at my board meeting and I wore a different dress from Cos each day with tights and ankle boots. They have pockets which I love and the dresses are very easy to wear. Just add earrings and necklace.

What a gorgeous jacket!

As you may have discovered by now, it’s only available in a size 20, but you did mention broad shoulders. And there are more options with something oversized than undersized.

Mumsnut · 21/04/2023 07:11

Wide leg trousers and a neat fitting polo or silk shirt depending on weather. I wear a fitted cardi if I need extra warmth, not a jacket (which just emphasises my shape, esp in the oversized versions available now)

Divebar2021 · 21/04/2023 07:14

Where do you normally shop?

UsernameNotAvailableNow · 21/04/2023 07:16

I am similarly broad shouldered and tall and find Boden Jersey dresses very smart and easy to wear for this type of occasion. You can pick them up super cheap on vinted. They wash well too.

Kirstyshine · 21/04/2023 08:06

I’ve not bought new clothes for ages but have a lot of wool dresses from Phase 8 and I’ve old jersey wrap dresses from Boden.

If you haven’t shopped for a while a re-boot might be helpful! The labels you mention are not considered terribly fashionable now. There are new places! If that matters to you, a couple of MN threads might be worth your time.

Both threads engage with all sources of clothes, new and not new, for all ages, budgets and sizes - but they are filled with women who really care about clothes and getting dressed.

Can we talk about clothing brands and target demographics? | Mumsnet

Because I’m thinking about the brands that form the core of my ‘going out to meet other grown ups’ wardrobe, and laughing at the Margaret Howell mail...
