Solution for sore breasts?

OhJustFuckOffAlready · 18/04/2023 16:03

Does/has anyone had this issue and have any advice? I am 47 and assuming this is menopause related - fuck me, my breasts are so painful! It's like that tender/heavy pain you have with PMS, but it's been a few weeks now and it's not PMS. (Definitely not pregnant btw!) I can't take HRT.

I am (luckily I guess) small framed with small breasts - 34A/B so imagine this would be even worse with bigger breasts. (Sympathies for anyone affected if this is true!) I don't normally wear bras unless I'm wearing an outfit that looks better with one, or I want to wear a particular matching lingerie set so the few bras I have are lacy frilly underwired type things.

The solution is obviously some kind of support but sadly I'm really awkward. I don't want to have to wear an uncomfortable bra all the time, I don't like hooks and eyes or wire and I don't like having to drag elastic-y tight sports bra things over my head which always go all rolled up and annoy me. I also can't put my arms behind my back but I don't want an ugly front fastening thing. I would like something "pretty" not just functional. I like lace if it's not itchy. If I could wear it in the day and also just keep it on overnight that would be good. I would like it in coral/pink/nude as well as black.

Ideally I'd quite like a cantilever thing installed under each breast which I can just prop them on, but in the absence of this, does anyone have any ideas? I'm really demanding and annoying as you can tell already and I'll probably say no to every suggestion if anyone would like to have a go however I'll be really grateful!

I'm going to post this in menopause and Style and Beauty topics to maximise my chances! (I'd like to say my budget is around £20 but I know I'll have to go over it as I'm such a fussy fucker)

<being even more demanding before anyone even answers>Blush

I've just realised it really should be nude or pink, rather than black,to go under my summer clothes. I also can't wear a halter-neck thing (which would be first choice) as I have a new tattoo on my upper back.

I have an ASOS and Amazon prime membership and would prefer to order online than get my arse off the sofa to go and try stuff on.

I recently bought an H&M crop top sports bra that is incredibly comfortable. Slightly padded so good if you're tender. It's the ribbed cotton one with wide straps. Comes in several colours but not nude sadly. Keep meaning to buy more. I'm a 32 back C cup wear h and m medium. Small would probably do you. I like to be comfy - less concerned by support. So if you're the same go smaller.

My breast pain (also small busted) doesn't seem to change whatever bra I wear. Sorry that's not very helpful but might save you hours of searching for the 'right' bra!

Get checked at tour gp surgery. Daily 1000mg evening primrose oil helps me.

Bessica · 19/04/2023 22:29

Try 1000mg Evening Primrose oil. I take 2000mg as I also suffer with breast cysts and the pain is unreal. You can also take ibuprofen and rub ibuprofen gel or Voltarol into your boobs.

I find wireless bras much more comfy these days.

I too have resorted to fugly non underwired sports type bras. So much comfier

BeverlyBrook · 20/04/2023 06:03

Well lucky for you it's 2023 as there are now so many non wired really nice bras around. Used to be basically none.

Just st search online for non wired in m&s etc. No need for awful sports bras, just do up the bra at your front then swivel it around.

I am mortified that I am forty fucking six and this hasn't occurred to me.

Thank you for all advice. I have found some lacy crop top things with spaghetti straps in DDs' room that look good so will investigate further. (I have now added spaghetti straps to the essential criteria, to wear with summer dresses.)

I will also look into the Evening Primrose, and I think I will ask my consultant again about HRT at next month's appointment.

Thanks all.

Primark do little lace bralettes with matching knickers that sound like they might do the trick. The lace isn't itchy and although you do have to pull it over your head, it's nothing like a tight sports bra that always roll up! For a fiver, and in loads of different colours, it might be worth a try?
<Bra doesn't help my aching boobs either though sorry!>

BeverlyBrook · 20/04/2023 18:32

Tbh for not volumous boobs there is an m&s strapless wireless bra that is cotton and is lovely. It might be your summer solution. I think it's in the teen range. I do not care what range I buy by bras from. As a 32E non wired preference plus sensory issues it is really difficult to find any at all!

And nowadays it seems my ribcage expands over the day, and by the evening I need to extend the hooks to the bigger size. No idea what's going on there.

My arms just do NOT bend correctly to do a bra up at the back! Never have done. I just can't see how others do it!
