Need to turn myself around

Heads up, I don’t have much a budget so can’t spend loads over all. I need help with my weight, skin and hair care, and clothes. I weight 13 stone and am just 5ft tall so I look massive and my head looks too small for my body. I have huge stretch marks all over including ones that go from the top of my leg to the bottom. I huge legs and arms, fat rolls, round face, pimples and rashes appearing all the time, sagging skin under my face and double chin, the works. I don’t know about food and how much I should be having of what but at the same time I don’t have loads of money to eat healthily. I’m young and have tried low impact, beginner and senior workouts but find myself in agony and can’t move for days after with muscle strain as I don’t know what I’m meant to be doing beforehand or after. I just use the cheap £1 Alberto balsam and don’t know if it’s fine but my hair doesn’t seem to like it and might go back to the expensive head and shoulders. I’ve never shown myself in public with makeup, I bought a few bits a few years ago and I didn’t look good in it and it started to burn after not long. I don’t have many clothes, I don’t even have a bra as it makes me uncomfortable but I have big boobs and it hurts when I exercise. I think I’d have to buy a new wardrobe for cheap as I can’t afford new but don’t know what I should look for. I need some comfy cheap shoes too. If you got this far, I would love to turn myself around, it feels like a mammoth task and I could really use support.
TIA

Skechers trainers are mega comfortable & offer good foot support, they can be worn both for exercise & leisure wear. You can pick them up quite cheaply on Facebook Marketplace. Marketplace is also very good for picking up cheap clothes.
If you're not used to wearing a bra, perhaps start off with a sports bra. Tesco do really comfy ones and you can try them on in store without any dressing room assistance.
Check out your local college hairdressing school, my local one have a hair salon where the more senior students offer a full range of treatments at very cheap prices. Students are of course fully supervised.
Are the skin rashes like a sweat rash, if so Bepanthen is very effective in easing the discomfort & clearing it up.
This can all feel very daunting, like you have a mountain to climb. But with each small step you take it will soon feel exciting. Find inspiration from other women's success stories on MN.
Sending you a big hug🤗

Please don't but clothes that you know won't fit. That's like a form of self harm for your brain. Be nice to yourself and live in the now.
You have decided to change so make lots of small changes. They will slowly add up and accumulate to a healthier you.

Walking shoes from decathlon and a bra that fits. That's all you need for now.

You had good advice and then you go and do the most unhelpful things, buying useless things.

GeriKellmansUpdo · 20/04/2023 10:02

Yes, don;t buy clothes that don't fit. M and S jeans are good for in between and plus sizes and inexpensive. Lily and Sienna have plenty of stretch.

I don't think makeup is all that essential. I only wear eyeliner and a BB cream and a very light lipstick or gloss. I like a less is more look.

I’ve just found a load of cash in my old purse so am going to go and buy a few bits and then upload what I bought and can’t wear onto Facebook marketplace.

Do you have a shopping addiction? You need a good bra (a couple minimum really) and decent shoes which usually don't come cheap. You're fritting money away on clothes that don't fit and fake 'bargains' ???

PottyMouthkaka · 20/04/2023 10:38

*frittering money away

Stop spending money you can't afford. Put the cash somewhere until you actually make a decision on your priorities, and make a list. DO NOT buy clothes that are too small as motivation. You deserve clothes that make you feel a bit nicer now, not make you feel guilty.

In your position I would:
1- buy a bra, or a croptop, or a bralette, or something along those lines. Use an online measurer to figure out your size, and buy cheap asda ones or whatever, but your cheap tshirts will look A LOT better if your bust is supported underneath and aren't hurting you.
2- Get off the sofa. Stop beating yourself up and go for a walk around your garden or down your street or whatever. 10 minutes in this sunshine.
3- Come back, sit and make a plan. List the stuff you don't need back on vinted, and just actually think about what you want for yourself.

Yes I’ve always done that it’s terrible but I’ve been able to scale it back a lot since we’re on benefits now having previously been employed. Luckily it was only a couple of things that I can’t wear but I’m going to resell them so no harm done. I did actually manage to buy a few things that I can wear. I’m not sure i can afford expensive shoes.

Your cheapest best trainers/walking shoes will be from decathlon.

Don't forget freecycle - someon3nwas giving away a basic exercise bike the other day.

New Look Petite is a good range to look for second hand. Their jeans/chinos are really nice. Agree you need a well fitting bra first …. I liked the previous suggestion of a couple of nice white T shirts and black joggers. Maybe add a cute jacket. I have the new look petite joggers and they’re really nice and at £15 hopefully affordable. Take care of yourself 💐
