Super dry skin solutions?

I always have looked after my skin and I'd have said it was more on the oily side, but when I got pregnant I developed a dry patch on one cheek that never went away. It almost looks scaly at times. Now my forehead is the same and it's so dry the skin is literally flaking off.

Skincare routine is as follows:
Morning: wash face with cool water and either dermalogica special cleanser or simple face wash. Apply elizabeth arden ceramide serum, eye cream and dermalogica calm water gel moisturiser.
Night: wash face as before, apply dermalogica overnight repair oil, eye cream and dermalogica calm water gel moisturiser again.

Where am I going wrong?! I'm breastfeeding so taking a complete multivitamin every day religiously. Probably could drink a bit more water but I usually get reasonably close to the recommended amount daily.

Any advice! It's making my skin look super textured especially when I wear foundation!

Also just to add when it feels like it's really building up I use dermalogica daily microfoliant but never more than once a week because I'm scared of making it worse!

I used to use dermalogica but suddenly couldn't anymore. The only thing that cleared this up was washing and moisturising with double base cream. Boring but I'd tried everything else.

I've always had dry skin so maybe it's helpful to say what I do...

Firstly I don't cleanse in the morning I just gently wash with warm water and a flannel. Then I do a vit c serum or HA serum, then a thin layer of Moistusier either La Roche Posay or Naturium then Spf.

At night I use Tret so I need a lot of Moisture. I use a heavy shea butter or La Roche Baume and an oil like the beauty pie overnight oil

I also use a balm to remove make up. Water makes my skin dry so need to keep adding moisture in.

A gel moisturiser would be far too light for me so maybe that's your issue?

I also use vaseline over moisturiser sometimes.

You could also try some Korean skincare they are great for toners. Look on Yess style for the rice toner or laniege creme skin one.

do you exfoliate at all?

I use dc acne face wash an acylsalicylic (sp?) chemical peel. once a week.
also use a flannel to wash my face which gently exfoliates. followed by weleda skin food.

if it doesn't go away see your gp. the hormonal changes from pregnancy can cause auto immune issues. psoriasis or eczema are types of those.

Make sure you're using the right products.

A balm cleanser eg Liz Earle C&P hot cloth cleanser, taken off with a hot flannel

Serious serum eg La Roche Posay toleriane

Serious cream eg Glossier After Baume or Murad Intense Recovery

And consider a cod liver oil supplement

I find using any water on my face dries it up. I thought I'd try a balm and wash it off with warm water but immediately it went very dry. Ive now gone back to micellar water and serum and moisturiser but using a drop of a face oil before the moisturiser. I'm using Dry oil Huile Prodigieuse This is in the morning when I have no makeup. It's already making a difference.

Trying to drink more water too.

That should say Nuxe Dry oil Huile Prodigieuse®
