Skincare during puberty

Hello can anyone on here suggest some skincare products and routines for my DD? She is in the early stages of puberty and has frequent breakouts of spots and hormone related dandruff.

Products need to be gentle and I don't think her skin is going to be bad enough to warrant roacutane (and am reluctant to go that route for all sorts of reasons). And if she is like me she will grow out of it.

Any help much appreciated. Products in my day were a bit limited!

I’d get her a medical treatment off the dr for outbreaks, bacterial infections take over if not treated and skin scars easily. Roaccutanes a last resort treatment. I had it, they don’t hand it out easily.

Try Vosene for dandruff first, it’s just salicylic acid in shampoo. I use it every wash for scalp health and it doesn’t dry hair. There are a lot of anti dandruff shampoos, if normal ones don’t work you can get anti fungal ones from the pharmacy incase it’s caused by a fungal infection. Sebum is basically food for bacteria and fungus.

My DD uses the pixi glow tonic pads and they have gotten rid of all her breakouts. She uses one a day. It took 2 weeks to work but her skin is perfect, and before it was full of angry red bumps

Thanks both, will give those a good look.

Agree re Dr's. But (a) it will take forever to get an appt at the moment and (b) we are not at the stage yet where anti bacterial prescriptions are needed. We are talking mild outbreaks every now again. I just want to get her into a good routine before they get any worse and before we have to try and sit out the endless wait for the GP, if you see what I mean 🙂.

They’d probably prescribe over the phone. They start you off on a benzoyl peroxide cream which is free off them or £10 in boots.

Last time I had tonsillitis the nurse prescriber rang me & prescribed over the phone. Just keep in mind untreated infections escalate quicker than they resolve.
