Changing Hairdresser in the same salon?

What to do? I always have the same Hairdresser(P) for almost 10 years! She is okay, does what I ask her to do. Sometimes it is not so good, other times it is ok.

But last year, I had my hair done by another, Hairdresser(E) at the same salon when the usual Hairdresser P was on away holiday.
Hairdresser E did an amazing job and miles better than my usual hairdresser (P)!!

I am going to an important event and don't know how to go about booking Hairdresser E. I feel like a traitor to Hairdresser P, and dreading booking my appointment.
Grateful for any advice on how to go about it.

I had the same dilemma. Decided to woman up & booked the appointment with the new hairdresser. When I went in, the other one wasn't actually working that day. - phew! She actually changed salons a month or so later so all was good. Hairdressers are expensive so it's important to be happy with the haircut - no need to settle...

My usual hairdresser is the manger of the (well known highstreet brand name salon). I have been a loyal client and can almost see daggers shooting from her eyes if I book the other one! 🙁

I feel no loyalty to hairdressers at all. I say just book for the person you want and if your usual hairdresser asks why just explain that you want to change hairdresser. It’s either that or you go elsewhere which I imagine no business owner wants.

Same as PP, no loyalty to hairdressers at all.

Why should there be? You book the best person for the job, whether it’s an electrician, hairdresser, physiotherapist or whatever.

I would just book the hairdresser you want. If you’re worried about hurting the other one’s feelings, you could purposely book on a day they’re booked up / not working?

I’m a hairdresser and I would never be offended by this. I’d hate someone to keep coming to me if they didn’t like how I did their hair! It’s not necessarily that someone is “better” it’s just the fit between client and stylist.

HOWEVER I know lots of people in my industry can be weirdly precious about stuff like this. Usually because once at a certain skill/price level some stylists become insufferable divas 🙃

I did this but I now go in on the day I know my original one is off!
