Recommendations for travel / sample size make up essentials for a non-make-up wearer

Secretarchersaddict · 13/04/2023 19:52

I rarely wear make up so find myself periodically throwing out opened but barely used products that have sat on the shelf for too long.

Does anywhere do travel/sample size kits of essentials? - some kind of tinted foundation / concealer / BB(?) cream base, plus some neutral eye and lip shades?

It'd be amazing to have something mini sized where I've got a chance of using it before it goes past its sell by date!

Samples? People sell them on ebay or sometimes you get them if you ask nicely at thr counters.

Bobbi Brown also sends you minis and samples when you buy over a certain amount.

Sephora online usually have a good range of samples and smaller sizes.

mynameiscalypso · 13/04/2023 20:35

Oh and worth looking at gift sets because they quite often contain minis.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/04/2023 20:42

I like the minis of Benefit Rollerlash and Dandelion and they last for ages. Mac do good mini lipsticks.

NightOwlNotEarlyBird · 13/04/2023 20:53

Benefit have lots of mini sizes. Also some of the bigger boots stores have a selection of travel-size makeups from different brands (not with the usual travel shampoo, toothpaste etc)

TakeMe2Insanity · 13/04/2023 20:57

I’ve bought beauty boxes where generally most things are sample sized, similarly beauty advent calendars are good future plan.

HolidayHappy123 · 13/04/2023 21:00

I second Eborian CC cream. £15 on Amazon.

There usually basis to choose from in airport beauty shops.

Niftythrifter · 13/04/2023 21:19

John Lewis has a travel size section including brand like Laura Mercier and some Benefit. Space NK also has a selection including Hourglass.

I think cult beauty has a mini section too

I’ve bought Nars Creamy Concealer and a few Benefit travel sizes from Look Fantastic. I’d also second Erborian CC and BB creams.

Eborian looks like it's definitely one to try!

I buy quite a few Latest In Beauty collections. There's usually a new one every couple of weeks or so and they're good value and full of mini sizes (and some full ones)

If you want eye shadow then Elf Bitesize or Revolution Pro are 4/5 shades in a small palette . Available in Superdrug

I woudn't buy a mini size mascara , the price isn't much different to a full size and the brushes tend to be annoyingly short !

Glittertrauma · 14/04/2023 19:37

For me it's aaaaalll about the Trinny London stack. Simple, portable, lightweight, ideal for travel, high quality, all the essentials covered. Beautiful stiff. It's all I ever use these days, along with the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser and the Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal that I also use to fill my brows. Highly recommend.
