I see this recommended often on here, as well as people saying that you need to be careful where you buy it from. Can't vouch for its authenticity (yet), but Superdrug are now selling it:

I would hope it's the real thing!

I bought mine in May when Superdrug first stocked them. I bought two to get the free p&p. Just used up all my originals and opened the first Superdrug one. I put it on the back of my hand and could see it is completely different. It’s white a there is a white cast to it, it doesn’t slip on the skin in the same way as the original. I rubbed it into my hand which immediately started to itch. I had to go and wash it off.

anyone know a reputable place online to buy the original Korean/Japanese version?

My local Superdrug were out of stock but having read all the reviews, I'm very glad I didn't buy any.

How are a reputable company like Superdrug able to buy and sell fake products? It's worrying!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/07/2023 08:37

I highly doubt Superdrug are selling fake products. I wonder if the formulation has been changed? I never found the original one to prevent a burn (and it was definitely an authentic product) so possibly they had to increase the actual sun protection.

DisforDarkChocolate · 28/07/2023 08:44

I bought some for the first time from Superdrug because it's often recommended on here. Very disappointed, it's stopped me burning but I've definitely tanned far more than normal, especially as it's factor 50.

LindorDoubleChoc · 28/07/2023 08:52

I bought some of this earlier this year, factor 30. Couldn't be happier with it and I have super sensitive skin for which there are only about three moisturisers I can tolerate. In strong sun (such as on holiday) I just put a bit of factor 50 sunscreen on top, the biore acts as a barrier and stops me from flaring up.

I’ve had no issues with the Superdrug one. I too had bought a dodgy batch from Amazon before.

HipHopBanzai · 28/07/2023 09:09

I've had no issues with the Superdrug product either in terms of burning. It seems to offer ok sun protection. However, I agree it isn't the same as the original product - it's a different colour, slightly different texture and smells different.

The Superdrug product is fine, but I still prefer the original. I reckon they must be selling a slightly different formulation for that western market.

It's not worrying at all. Superdrug is t selling a fake product. It's the new reformulation. Not sure why it's been reformulated but probably something to do with the spf ++++ rating. Typically Japanese and Korean sunscreens don't use this system

Donewithrenovating · 28/07/2023 10:05

i had given up on biore after some fakes and moved to buying direct from missha or from yesstyle

i think the missha ones are even better, I have the white and pink spf45 one and sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s even on.

very keen to try ultraviolette matte if anyone has as i like to layer up!

Camdenish · 28/07/2023 13:38

@Donewithrenovating thank you! I need an alternative to Biore, even though I love it, as it’s just so difficult to buy.

I’d be grateful if you could tell me exactly which Missha sun protection you use as I’ll get it. Is it the all round safe block essence 45 or the all around safe block aqua sun gel?

I would like something that slips well, that doesn’t leave a cast and that doesn’t irritate.

What do you buy from Yesstyle?

many thanks

BettySundaes · 28/07/2023 13:58

I think the Superdrug one is ok, its different yes, Blore seem to constantly change the formulation. Superdrug are carrying a lot of Blore products these days so probably have a direct supply chain. We've all had to take pot luck on Amazon & ebay and that original great formula is the stuff of legends now.

Donewithrenovating · 29/07/2023 16:18

I’ve tried a few and they are all more or less nice, but this one I bought three bottles of at the beginning of summer:

and it’s super easy.

That’s all I bought from yesstyle and the last time from missha just a mix of spfs to try.

open to anyone else’s suggestions though!
