Vinted- lots of favourites but no sales?

No idea if this is the right place to ask but fingers crossed….
Need a huge clear out so have started putting a few things on Vinted over the last few weeks. All good items, either nwt, nwot or very good condition, low prices, from £1.50 to £3. Why do so many people mark things as favourites and just sit there not buying them? Out of 10 items I sold 3 in the first couple of days but nothing else, just lots of ppl marking as favourite, getting a bit frustrated. I don’t really want to make offers as I think they are really cheap as it is or should I maybe price a little higher and expect to have to make offers? Any help appreciated :)

I sometimes favourite things as a kind of a wishlist or to consider it a little longer before buying, or to compare with other items.

Finding second hand sales have hugely slowed down in recent months though, I guess everyone is skint.

I've got loads of favourites on all my stuff on Vinted. It comes and goes in flurry's, frustrating but it is what it is. I've got an IKEA bag with all the stuff I've listed in a wardrobe out of the way and told myself if after 6 months it's not gone it can go to charity.

As obvious as it sounds try and list stuff that's relevant for the season now. So in November all the kids Xmas stuff from previous years sold strait away. Instead of listing sandals then I listed them this week and they've gone.

blueyyyy · 09/04/2023 15:32

I favourite loads of stuff to never end up buying lol.

Like PP said it's a bit like a wish list.

I also like to purchase multiple items from the same seller so I'm saving on delivery. I'll favourite a bunch of items and then go back to the seller who has the most items I've favourited.

I was trying to sell items since last summer (for £1) that had loads of favourites. Gave up this week and took them to the charity shop.

PrincessofWellies · 09/04/2023 15:45

Good quality items sell very well on vinted. Primark stuff and the like not so.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 09/04/2023 15:49

I might favourite 10 or 15 items to compare then only buy one. It’s just a way of bookmarking something, not necessarily an intention to buy. However if I get an offer it refreshes my memory and I’m more likely to buy it. Sometimes a £1 item costs £5 by the time postage and buyer protection is added so cheaper items aren’t what they seem.

stayathomegardener · 09/04/2023 16:08

Weirdly I avoid things if too cheap.

I've a sweet spot for an impulse buy between £10-£25.
I usually filter out below £10 but if you are getting favourites then thats not the case.

I favourite as reminders, to build up a look and to search in a different size/colourway.

An offer will often prompt me to purchase.

titaniumhip · 09/04/2023 16:40

I favourite loads of things has I have to be in a spendy mood to buy things but when I get a good offer I nearly always go back and buy them. Maybe put them on for a bit more than you want and then you can safely send offers and maybe lure reluctant aka tight buyers in like me.

GrandmaWins · 09/04/2023 16:42

I favourite them so I can come back and easily find them if they are still available. Sometimes I enjoy a browse and I'm not actually ready to buy right then... Or I am favouriting them to compare similar/same items from other sellers.

Cyclingmummy1 · 09/04/2023 17:49

I've found adding a couple of items every week seems to keep you in the public eye. Though DS and DH have both had a clear out this week and I've listed around 30 items over 2-3 days. And been to post things every day.

PaddingtonsHat · 09/04/2023 17:53

I find most people purchase over the weekends?? I mostly ignore favouriting now though for all the reasons already listed

boboshmobo · 09/04/2023 19:03

Send them offers!

WunWun · 09/04/2023 19:04

Yes, it might just be they're hoping you'll send them an offer.

Midsummernightmare · 10/04/2023 11:21

Thanks for all the replies and tips. I am trying to keep it relevant ie selling things at the right time of year and just thought it would be simpler to keep things cheap and sell it quick but clearly that strategy isn’t working lol! I’ll have a go at delisting some of them and sending offers, fingers crossed!
Thanks again everyone, appreciate the help 😊

I’ve got the same but added A LOT of stuff so some of it went instantly, the rest is still sitting there. The fact it has favourites means someone will come back and buy it. I have loads of saved favourites that I browse through every other week and buy a selection of things from. I run a different online shop but I’ve started noticing more and more in recent times that people will buy a lot more around the end of the month (pay day time). I would leave it all on there until the start of next month then reduce some prices or do a bundle discount
