Mid range moisturiser recommendations

AuroraAlba · 08/04/2023 16:30

I have been using a pretty standard Nivea Q10 moisturiser, night cream and eye cream for a number of years but it's no longer doing much for me.

I'm mid 30s with skin on the dry side. Does anyone have any recommendations for something that actually feels moisturising and helps make up look nice? Maybe slightly anti ageing and SPF too.

I had a clarins makeover today and the skincare felt gorgeous on my skin. Smelt delicious too. No idea on prices though.

TattiePants · 08/04/2023 17:24

Moisturiser is something you don’t need to spend a lot of money on. Look at brands like Cerave or Curel or French pharmacy brands like LRP and Avene. I don’t have dry skin but lots of people that do really rate LRP. Ideally you should use a separate facial SPF.

RoyalDeathCult · 08/04/2023 17:28

Honestly, Aveeno has been the best thing for my dry skin.

I'm currently hate-panning some COSRX advanced snail on some days - I believed all the hype but it's just so-so on my 40s skin.

Changedmymindtoday · 08/04/2023 17:30

The yellow estee Lauder one is nice. You can get pretty good deals on it.

Agreed (as ever!)
I have very dry skin and am currently living LRP Dermallergo.

OxanaVorontsova · 08/04/2023 17:41

Vichy (and other french pharmacy brands as mentioned) is great and currently 25% off at escentual

CeeceeBloomingdale · 08/04/2023 17:43

I really recommend Cetaphil. I was using cream at £200+ and switched to Cetaphil which was under £5. My skin has not looked better and the dry patches are gone.

Todaynotalways · 08/04/2023 17:46

Like PP I use the French pharmacy brands, Avene and La Roche Posay on my dry and sensitive skin.

I’m kicking myself as I’ve been using the Aldi peptide moisturiser that’s a dupe for Drunk Elephant during the day and I’ve nearly ran out and can’t get any more. I bought one jar, liked it so went back for another when really I should have bought 10! It’s very light so no good for anyone with dry skin.

doadeer · 08/04/2023 17:53

I always rate the LA Roche Posay moisturisers and usually on offer at boots

Weelegs29 · 08/04/2023 17:53

I've been using the Cerave AM and PM moisturisers for a while now and really like them especially as they are recommended by dermatologists. Non-comodogenic too which is a must for my breakout prone skin. I've also just started using the body moisturiser and am really impressed as its fragrance free and not sticky at all.

Someone recommended the revolution pro miracle cream to me on one of the beauty threads and it is the best moisturiser I have ever used!

I love CeraVe and am trialing a cheaper version from Amazon called Ceramide Moisturiser. Aveeno is fantastic too.

Absolutely love Clarine but find the perfume way too strong.

Thanks. I already use cerave facewash and really like it so might worth be trying theirs.

Wow, for some reason I wouldn't have thought a budget make up brand would have good skin care but good to know!

I have a Cetaphil every day moisturiser and it is great - gentle, plain, make up goes over fine. I've just purchased Beauty Bay's own oat moisturiser and it is fantastic. Don't think I could wear it in summer as a day cream as it would be too much with spf but will continue to use it at night. I also have an oil (currently Body Shop hemp) which definitely improves my nearly 40 year old dryish skin.

Try Elf too. Their Holy Hydration is very good. About £12.

LeatherSkirt82 · 08/04/2023 18:13

My DH has very dry skin - dermatologist recommended using Eucerine urea line and it made all the difference.

peoplewatching · 08/04/2023 18:14

Neals yard sensitive skin moisturiser - I have very dry skin and I keep going back to this one. Curel is great too.

I’ve just stocked up at Boots as I use the cleanser too and it’s currently on offer for 3 for 2 (as is La Roche Posay).

kitsuneghost · 08/04/2023 18:16

I like kiehls but if my skin is a bit dry boots cucumber or rose is good.

HiImTheProblemItsMe · 08/04/2023 18:17

Another Revolution Miracle Cream fan here. It's really nice!
