Recipient late 40’s, London professional. My budget is vey small -absolute max of £40 & I have no idea what she would like really.
Wears designer clothes & is understated but well put together.
I would be great full for any suggestions.

I have some Pilgrim pieces. I really like the brand.

Do you have a particular one in mind ?
I'd play it safe with something quite classic I think .

memyselfi · 07/04/2023 18:26

I just looked at their website , there's some lovely stuff.

Do you know if she is a gold person or a silver person (or both)? I don't wear anything gold-coloured, for example. I assume you can subtly check her out at work to see which metals she likes!

Are you certain she’s wear costume jewellery? They have some lovely pieces but if she’s into understated designer clothes she might be a fine jewellery only type and not a fan of gold plated stuff. Then you’ve got the fact that jewellery is so personal, I don’t think I’d ever buy it for someone else. Does she drink? For £40 you might be better off with a bottle of champagne. I know that’s generic AF though. Tough one!

Jo Malone candle. I don't wear jewellery so would hate a necklace.

Jewellery is quite personal so a tricky choice unless you really know her style.
Just had a look and the necklaces appear to be only plated. That would put me off personally, especially if she's someone who wears designer.

I know, it’s tough.

Re the gold plated, I was always of the opinion that gold should be solid gold but Monica Vinader only being gold vermeil doesn’t seem to put people off, although the prices are £££!

Friend bought me a silver coloured chunky bracelet and a sterling silver necklace in the last couple of years so I don’t think she has an issue with costume jewellery. Not a big drinker, doesn’t do candles. I’m aware my gift will be more of a token than anything but I’m just wondering if the Pilgrim brand is seen as ok or is it the equivalent of Primark in comparison to DKNY or something-I’m clueless! I will look at other brands also if anyone has suggestions.

Pilgrim is gorgeous but makes my neck green and irritates my ears (earrings )

Porkandbeans1 · 07/04/2023 19:36

I can only wear silver so i personally wouldnt buy jewellery for others. I suppose if I had to I would chose something small and understated that could maybe be layered. The brand and cost wouldn't bother me being a recipient, more the thought.

My only other suggestions would be a vintage silk scarf, a compact mirror, a glasses case, or a travel jewellery case.. sorry without knowing her the ideas are a bit generic.
