Would this style suit a pear shape with a flabby tummy, size 14/16?

is it a black tie evening do?
may be a leetle ott at yer average 3pm parish church do... shape isn't bad though

something with a ruched waist thus or thus will flatter tum

posieflump · 16/02/2008 19:01

why they are truly gorgeous!! Will have to try things on I think
It's all in a hotel. Not black tie but people will be smart, more meant the style of that dress instead of the actual dress

Sorry Posieflump but whilst it's a nice enough dress, the coulour would hardly flatter any complexion (and dark is always more slimming) and the flat panel on the front won't help a tummy. The MOnsoon suggestions are lovely though esp. the black and white one.

bitofadramaqueen · 16/02/2008 19:10

I like the monsoon ones too - and have a few dresses with similar middle sections which concealed my flabby bits .

mariel · 17/02/2008 00:06

what would you wear with the green monsoon one mrs badger - i love it! what colour shoes? and what manner of cardi/shrug? when is the wedding posieflump??

discoverlife · 17/02/2008 00:14

Dont forget the proper under garments.

posieflump · 17/02/2008 18:50

wedding isn't until June
I went into Monsoon to have a look at the green dress and it looked a different shade of green to the one online, much brighter and deifnitely not me! It also didn't look substantial enough!!

If its not till June I'd hang on a bit. The spring collections are only just in the shops and the summer collections will be in well before you're wedding so there will be a lot more to choose from.

Monsoon do lots of dresses in that kind of shape and I know from experience they can be very flattering!

My top tip for trying on dresses would be a really supportive well fitting bra - It can transform how a dress looks on.

thanks dramaqueen, will hold off for a wee while

Hi

I wore this recently to a wedding www.coast-stores.com/fcp/product/-/Dresses/Paige-Rose-Dress/2224625180...

I have flabby post baby tum and am a 14/16. I also wore spanx pants and a bolero type thing to cover my shoulders

Have you got a Debenhams/John Lewis near you ? I used one of their personal shoppers. It was free and you get to sit in a lovely room (plenty big enough for pushchairs etc) and drink coffee whilst they dash around the store and bring you lots of dresses to try on. I tried loads of things on I wouldn't have dreamed of trying normally and was amazed how flattering some of them were
