Anything to reduce the size of pores?

The pores on my face are huge. They never used to look so noticeable, but as I've gotten older they are becoming more obvious. I've always had oily skin, although the oiliness has slowed down since I've had my 2 children.

I just noticed how bad the pores look when zooming in on a photo of myself. It looks like I've got tiny holes all over my cheeks and nose. It's awful! I don't wear foundation or anything unless I'm going on a night out which is very rare so I can't even try and disguise them. Although with the size of them they'd probably look worse.

I don't have a huge budget, but does anyone have any recommendations on something that has worked to minimise their pores?

Benefit Cosmetics porefessional. It's a foundation primer or you can wear it alone, no color. Does a very nice job of minimizing pores and fine lines. Matte finish. Not cheap, but you just need a tiny amount. It comes in a small "trial" size as well.

Good skin care
Cleanse
Tone
Moisturise

I also use the ordinary hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serums

Day and night routine and you should hopefully see a difference within a month

I notice if I stop after a few days they look bad again.

Thanks for replying. I actually use this as a primer before my foundation and it's great!

I'm looking for something to use as part of a skincare routine to make them smaller.

Thank you. I'm pretty bad for not sticking to a skincare routine every day and night. I do it for a few days then I forget or am too tired by the end of the day!

I'll look into them though, thank you!

I know a lot of people who swear by tretinoin to reduce the appearance of pores, though I can't tolerate the stuff myself. I have a friend who has been using it religiously for years and she went from oily, large pores with breakouts to very smooth skin - complete transformation.

Someone recommended this in an older thread. I've been using it for a week or so and noticed a difference already: https://www.superdrug.com/skin/face-skin-care/face-serums/revolution-skincare-60ml-10-niacinamide-1-zinc/p/800390

It goes on post wash, let it dry, then your moisturiser.

Niacinamide. Available from lots of brands these days.

You can get niacinamide and tretinoin in the same formula from Dermatica.

As the owner of genetically massive pores since the age of 14, I always baulk at the “good skincare” advice that always gets thrown out re pores. Usually by those who don’t have them.

Realistically most topical treatments make very little difference. The exception is retinol, and chemical exfoliants (lactic acid, glycolic acid, and I’ve had recent success with azelaic acid).

Skin and Me and Dermatica are fantastic as the ingredients can be tailored to your specific issue and are absolutely worth a punt.

I use Benefit Porefessional daily to fill mine in. Skincare comes and goes, some works better than others, but this primer will need to be prised from my cold, dead hands. It works.

Thanks all for your recommendations! I will have a look into them all.

I've found Exaglow serum from Facetheory quite good. It's about £27 though but I paid on klarna over 3 months so it wasn't too bad. x
