Has anyone managed to stretch out Irregular Choice shoes?

I have a hen do this weekend and I found a gorgeous pair of IC boots on Vinted, they were brand new in the box, only been tried on inside, the soles are immaculate and clearly never been outside. An absolute steal at £30! But they're too small 😩 they're meant to be a 7 (40) I'm a 7 but they're so tight! Is there anything I can do to stretch them out a bit??

Something that has worked quite a few times for me is to wear a pair of wet socks with the shoes around the house basically until the socks are dry. Definitely softens and stretches. In fact, a couple of times I have almost stretched them too much!

I’ve stretched shoes by wearing them with a pair of thick socks and running a hairdryer over them to soften and heat the leather. Might need to do it a few times but it does work.

Otoh, have you considered just keeping them pristine in their box? WinkGrin

Well thankfully I don't give a shit about your unwanted opinion

🙌🙌

Brilliant response.

Irregular choice shoes are a bit marmite on here

The lovely boots 😍

Fab boots! You have me worried now as I've just ordered a few from IC in the sale after discovering this amazing brand yesterday...will probably need to try a few of the tricks mentioned here!😩

@veggie50 If really depends on the shape of your feet, I wear my size in IC and had to get heel grips because I have very narrow feet with a high arch, they're almost too big!

You can get sole protectors on Amazon too to protect the lovely soles - also stops them being quite so slippy on carpet and shiny floors!

I love those boots OP. I would try the tricks mentioned here then wear my thinnest tights for the night out and make it work 😆

I couldn't even get my feet into a pair of IC shoes for DDs wedding. Ended up buying a boring grey pair.

Thank you for the tips. I'll see how they fit but I know they don't have any bigger size in the ones I ordered (hence in the sale) so fingers crossed!

Have never worn IC shoes - they're definitely a brand that isn't something I would ever wear because I don't consider them stylish, so am not speaking from my own personal experience. However, having worked with footwear previously, I can tell from the shape of a shoe how it will fit. The shape of the shoe means the bulk of your weight will be on the ball of your foot, hence suggesting a padded insole. In addition to this, the shoe has a major vertical slant, which means it will come up small, hence the suggestion of buying a larger size. Also, given the shape of the last, there will be little movement in the sole when you walk - there's a good chance the sole could crack or even split at the break point.

Tbh, life it too short suffering footwear that is too small, even for a few hours. Even so, you love the shoes and want to wear them - I wish you (and your feet) well for your evening out.

Very informative, highfidelity.
Just a little of my own thought on style, seeing you have mentioned it. I suspect most people who like Irregular Choice shoes are in there for the artistry, self expression and visual. Those who aim to be "stylish" would probably shy away from IC shoes for fear of being accused of trying too hard or too outrageous, in other words unstylish. For most people, being stylish is conforming to the taste of the mass and I don't begrudge anyone who wants to pursue that. But to think that is the high vantage point to look down on the world is missing the point of style. Style is created when one has a vision of itself and is unconcerned with what the rest of the world think. It doesn't answer to anyone but itself. In that respect, IC is doing a great job proposing different styles whether in pursuing a theme or working with different material / colours all within the confine of budget and shape (of a shoe). You often hear people buy IC shoes because they love them, not because they go with their dress / hat / carpet. That is because IC shoes represents that person's style, a unique space where one is most comfortable and joyous.

I have 6 pairs of IC choice shoes - I love them! They brighten up a plain outfit and I get LOADS of compliments on them. I also find them very comfortable even though they all have heels. I wore a pair for my son's wedding last year and kept them on all day and all night for the dancing and I had no pain at all. I tend to go a half size up (one of the few brands that you can still get in half sizes!)

99victoria · 26/02/2024 18:37

Ha ha -just noticed, zombie thread!

CuntRYMusicStar · 26/02/2024 18:37

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens 🤣 I did not realise it was a zombie thread. Hope you enjoyed your boots!

Moier · 26/02/2024 18:39

Cobblers can use those contraptions with screws and rounded wood ends to put in for a couple of days to stretch them.

LuckyDipForTheEuro · 28/02/2024 07:35

They are a bizarre cut. I have fairly basic ones pretty heels but they don't seem to factor in toes so they were worn once and never again. Just ouch!

veggie50 · 28/02/2024 17:22

My sale bargains arrived today, I bought my normal size and they all fit well, no need to stretch, phew! For anyone who wonders about the fit of Irregular Choice shoes, I've got wide feet but low arch, got plenty of room in the round toe front. Shoes seem well made too. Here's a picture of the Bunny Disco.
