Droopy eyelids/hooded

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for products that can help with droopy eyelids.

I'm 48 and recently thought I'd just been buying naff mascaras that rubbed off onto my eyelids during the day. I've finally twigged (come out of denial) that it's my droopy eyelids causing the problem. I look at photos of me and my eyes look 'sad.'

I'm on an extremely limited budget.

Has anyone got a tried & tested recommendation? Please help before I resort to buying Preparation H to see if that works!

I've tried an Avon eye cream (the one that's got orange cream for lids & a creamy cream for under eyes) but it hasn't made any difference.

Thank you.

My discovery is I powder my eye lids and lashes before applying any mascara and it now never budges

You're welcome

I hope this works for you. I do find that Eyeko mascara in the bright royal blue tube tends to never budge. However since my powder trick I can use any mascara including cheap primark ones.

I use eyelash curlers so my eyelashes often hit my hooded eyes when I smile and still no smudging

Try eyelash curlers and a waterproof mascara

Clinique lash power does not smudge at all , it’s quite expensive approx £21 but it works
washed off with warm water

You could try those clear tapes that hold up the loose skin. I dont really think any product will help with droopy skin, cream will help the skin but not the amount of it, if that makes sense.

I have hooded eyelids and only found out recently what it was called, even though I always knew as a teen that eye makeaup didn't look as good as me as on my friends! I stopped wearing mascara for years following a disastrous interview (think panda eyes) but now I've discovered Space NK Hourglass mascara and it has never smudged yet.

Botox helps but only a certain amount.

no creams will work unfortunately 😩 surgery is the only way to properly get rid and apparently it’s not as bad as you think, quite a quick procedure.

I also think the clear tape would help. I watched a demo of it on shopping channel where the woman out the tape on and omg the difference was phenomenal.

The skin over the top of her eyeball and the skin under her brow became two different areas.

Can’t recall the name of the stuff but google and watch the demos.

Have a look at some make-up tutorials on social media!

I watched some recently & following the advice to take my eyeshadow up above the socket line has definitely opened my eyes up.

I bought some of those tapes a while ago and they worked but you can clearly see them on your eyelid! I’m considering an eyelid lift but I’ll maybe try Botox first and see if that helps.

With regards to make up, use an eyelid primer first, then curl your lashes, or try LVL. I have eyelash extensions which I love, I have them in a ‘open eye’ style which suits us hooded ones best as the longer lashes are in the middle rather than at the outside edge.

I use the strips on the eye for this problem. It takes a little practice but there are a lot of them in the pack so you can afford to waste a few until you get it right. I use them all time. I make sure my eye is clean of any creams or lotions by wiping with a cotton wool ball / cotton bud. It says keep your finger on for about 10 seconds to make sure they are stuck, but I usually hold for 20 seconds just to make sure. As I say, there is a knack to this but with practice they are fine. I put make up on afterwards and find that it goes on okay, albeit I don't wear too much as I have had my eyeliner tattooed. I bought mine from amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Invisible-Stickers-Tweezers-Mono-Eyelids-Accessories/dp/B09WRDWF21/ref=sr_1_31?crid=3KQE88781VVTH&keywords=eyelid+tape+for+hooded+eyes&qid=1680518290&sprefix=eyelid%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-31) but I have just ordered these, which look to be slightly perforated and use a glue so will give them a go https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eyelid-Lifter-Invisible-Instant-Mono-eyelids/dp/B09XTFNHQD/ref=sr_1_34?crid=3KQE88781VVTH&keywords=eyelid+tape+for+hooded+eyes&qid=1680518290&sprefix=eyelid%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-34

(Hope it was okay to put these links on here - if not, apologies)

Good luck
