A Summer alternative to wide leg side stripe trousers

This year I started a new job in a new school and my office is freezing. So I switched from my normal tights and dresses to M&S side striped trousers, merino jumper and trainers (don't need to be v smart).

This has also suited me as I've gone onto HRT, put on weight around my stomach and breasts and it's all been v forgiving.

But I can't figure out a Summer version.

One that doesn't show my knicker line, is flattering on my stomach - I'm a 10, but also spend a lot of time in period pants 😔

Is there something I'm missing here? I've loved my winter 'uniform' of three pairs of trousers and five tops which have kept my thinking to a minimum and have kept me looking current and comfy.

I don't do floral. Or midi dresses.

I've just bought these and plan to wear them similarly to the way they are shown here

I was going to recommend these too! I haven’t tried exactly this style, so can’t say if the material and fit is identical, but I have last year’s version in three different colours. I wore them in rotation pretty much all summer for WFH, office days, out for lunch and I even took them on holiday! So comfy and forgiving but smarter than my collection of tatty joggers and keep you cool. I might treat myself to this pair as well...

I've just bought your winter trousers @Moredarkchocolateplease thanks for the recommendation! I reckon we'll get a few more weeks out of them yet!

@TokyoSushi you aren't kidding... The forecast is abysmal even until after Easter!!

Thank you @UndercoverCop I'm going to order a pair of those and see how fat my calves look.

I am 5ft6 but mid calf is my worst point. I will def be wearing with trainers. I have to be mobile at work, can do 6000 steps on a normal exam day, plus I have foot issues so shoes a disaster for me!

I did wonder about these but don't know if they are too 'beach'

Lands End do a wide leg linen trouser. They are pull on style with a comfy elasticated waist. I wear mine with trainers and find them really flattering.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 31/03/2023 10:15

@MaidOfSteel thanks those look great, the cropped ones especially.

I've just done a big marks order and have included these https://www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-textured-wide-leg-culottes/p/clp22563187?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

And two pairs from new look. So I will do a big try on.

Thanks so much to you all, I'm really glad I asked because I'd been stumped!

Was going to say this! I love them. Petite lengths too.
