Baby changing bags

Hi! Wasn't sure if to post this in pregnancy or not but I do enjoy a good bag thread.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent baby bag? Thanks!

I personally prefer a backpack style bag so that I have both hands free to deal with baby, mine is from Gigil and it wasn't cheap but I do love it and have used it every day since LO was born!

I have a StorkSak rucksack and I really rate it.

I didn't bother wasting money on a baby bag when I had (have) a perfectly adequate plain old rucksack. Said rucksack is 20 years old this year and has been set to many a different use over the years! Good old workhouse rucksack, JanSport. Makes a great baby bag!

I had a Hafmall backpack style one from Amazon. 3.5 years on and it is still in great condition and used all the time. I’ll see if I can find the link in my orders.

Seconding the recommendations of a rucksack, I've got a Roka Finchley and it's great for baby stuff, especially if you're using a sling. Make up a travel changing set with a couple of nappies, small pack of wipes, travel tube of nappy cream in a zipped pouch/washbag along with either a muslin or a travel changing mat (mine's an ancient one from the Boots parenting club!) and keep that in the bottom of the buggy or in your rucksack. I've tried a few changing bags and ended up selling them because they're bulky and heavy, and what you actually want is a bag that's comfortable, light, and will last past the bottles and nappies stage.

Highly recomment a changing bag backpack from Amazon, they have a few to choose from. Inexpensive but surprisingly good quality, mine is still going strong after 2 babies and 4 years. Lots of compartments, changing mat and clips on to buggies. Don't know how to do links sorry

Another recommendation for the Amazon rucksacks. Clipped to the pram/buggy when needed but lasted well into toddlerhood/early childhood years when they're walking as you can run around after then hands free. Plus I swear they're tardis-like. I got SO much stuff in mine! (They're also great for swimming when they're older as most of them have at least one waterproof compartment for soggy swim gear! We still use ours as a swim bag now. Holds enough for all three of us to go swimming with ease.)

I bought myself a nice leather one that looked like a handbag. It had internal pockets and enough space for my needs but admittedly I was always a travel light person, couldn't abide carting round tonnes of stuff.

I used it as a handbag once I was done and then sold it on eBay for a reasonable amount.

Lwrenagain · 30/03/2023 15:09

Thanks so much!

I've just ordered the amazon one! I really appreciate your help! X

if you buy one marketed as a baby bag, you will pay a premium. It’s just a rucksack which can cheaply be bought from Amazon, supermarket or sports shop

I disagree a bit, mine was cheap from Amazon but it is very different to my basic rucksacks that I also have. I wanted lots of internal pockets to keep everything separate as I used cloth nappies and wipes so more to carry as things aren’t thrown away. Less than £30 I paid and it included the changing mat, stroller clips etc. I’ve used it every day for 3.5 years now. Hardly overpriced but much better than just a bag with one big internal space.

I do think the expensive ones sold to match your pushchair are generally absolutely shite though.

Exactly all of this!

I’d recommend getting something light because at points you’ll be carrying the bag plus toddler and the load gets heavy.
