What shoes to wear to the Ritz

My lovely DM has decided to treat me and her DGC to Afternoon Tea at The Ritz. I do have a lovely Nancy Mac jumpsuit that I want to wear but I'm not sure which shoes to wear?
We will be walking around London after tea so need something comfy and practical but will also go with navy blue velvet. Instead of calling any of you have any experience of if naice trainers would be acceptable? Thinking of

Or any other suggestions? As I'm sure it will still be a bit cold and rainy.

Also does anyone know if DS 8 will need to wear a jacket and tie like adults?

Thanks in advance.

If it’s the jumpsuit I’m thinking if, it’s lovely. Lucky you!

Your son just needs to be smartly dressed, jacket and tie is required for over 18s only.

First trainers are lovely - but maybe too informal for the Ritz? If I were you I’d wear proper shoes and then change into trainers in the loo after tea.

Trainers are not permitted in any of the Ritz dining areas so you'll need shoes (also no jeans, shorts or sportswear).

I believe that no trainers are allowed so I would probably wear a lovely impractical pair of shoes for the Ritz and have comfy trainers to change into for walking around London.

@TBOM thanks for that I was hoping it would just be smart attire for DS as the idea of trying to get him in a tie doesn't bare thinking about!

Like people have said I thought that might be the case for trainers but was hoping they might have changed their policy as went years ago. Trainers as so main stream now thought they may have change.

@Ohjustboreoff The Ritz is still fairly formal. What I do is wear trainers and take a pair of (flat) lighter weight pumps/shoes in a bag. Mine easily fit into a top handle tote. Slip them on in the loo before you go into the Palm Court. Problem solved. Loads of women do this when they have walking to do then a formal meeting/dinner.

Ohjustboreoff · 29/03/2023 13:43

@TizerorFizz good idea. I was thinking that flats would be too cold to walk around London in and I didn't want to carry around shoes but think a small pair of flat to change into is the ticket.

@Ohjustboreoff Tip I got from DD. She’s a barrister and court dress is formal. Walking or travelling to court is trainers!
