How to cover greys - VERY short hair

I have a buzz cut (about a grade 5 all over right now) and have lots of greys.
What's the best way to cover them?

Should I use permanent dye? Is there such a thing as a temporary dye? Not sure why I'd want that in preference to any other kind! Just a real novice.

I don't want my greys to show so much anymore - hair is dark brown and they are so visible and I don't like them.

Thank you for any advice.

Hi. Yes you can get semi perm dyes, I found the more grey I got I had to then use a perm. dyes and I felt I was spending all my time and money coloring my hair. I got so fed up I just stopped and let all the dye grow out. Have fully grey hair now. Best thing I ever did
What don’t you like about your grey? Have you considered just going grey? I felt I would hate grey hair (got my first greys mid teens) but I love it and so freeing.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm just so vain! Nothing more interesting than that! 😀

I'm a dark brunette with a shoulder length bob, problem is I'm starting to grey by "chunks" in different areas, as much as I would love to grow my hair grey it doesn't look good because I'm in that "stage". I see lot's of women with lovely uniformly looking grey hair, me I look like a pound dog when I let it grow naturally so I'm still dying it with a semi permanent non aggressive dye that makes the colour look uniform and lasts 3 months. In ten years once ALL my hair is grey (and not just chunks here and there like now) I'll stop dying it and let it grow grey.

Try L'Oréal Casting Crème Gloss. It's a good semi-permanent that covers well and leaves hair in great condition.

Semi perm dye washes out in about 6 weeks.

Perm dye will give you roots that will be more obvious with shorter hair.

Have you considered henna? You can get it in brown as well as red, it's cheap as chips, you mix and apply it at home. It takes your hair a few shades different but you don't get the all-one-colour weirdness of perm dyes, or the screamingly obvious roots. Downside is it can be a bit messy and you need to leave it on an hour or two.

When I had similar hair post chemo I just used a permanent box dye (probably on a grade 3 length even). I am happy with my grey now my hair has grown but I didn’t like it showing as much when it was very short.

Henna is a good idea!

I’ve had awful results with brow. Henna or it will wash away after 3 washes, is there any brown henna you would recommend?

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. I have dark brown hair and have used it for years, and I also have grey. Note though- that the colours come out very dark. I use light brown and it comes out dark brown. They are great though- because if you really hate it, it will eventually wash out and not leave a permanent line in the hair which permanent colours do.

I have a pixie with very short sides where all my grey hair is too. I also use l'oreal casting Creme gloss. Need to do it once every 4-6 weeks as hair is so short and grows out quickly, but we'll worth the minimal effort and cost.

@MWNA 😂fair enough.

You've got a buzz cut. Anything you do is going to show regrowth within a week. Within days.

Not true actually, definitely still worth colouring if you want.
