Gel nails… what condition are your nails after the gels come off?

Mine are always so brittle afterwards and liable to breaking easily. I cannot fault the nail technician so wondering if this is common with gels or if I need to be doing anything differently? She does always try to sell cuticle oil which I bought and used but hasn’t made a difference ??

I have. She said fungal infection or allergic reaction. What did you use on your nails to repair them?

If it’s not something you can get a prescription to fix, I suspect it’s going to be a case of just growing them out and treating them with care while doing so. Try watching this video as I think she has some relevant information on allergies in this one.

@Soontobe60 I don't do anything, I've been referred to a Dermatologist so will see what happens there.
My GP did send off nail clippings to rule out a fungal nail infection and that's come back clear.

I've bitten my nails my whole life and they have always been really thin and break really easily. I discovered gel nails last year and bought my own kit since using builder gel my nails have grown loads and when I take the gel off my nails are much stronger, probably because I'm not biting them anymore.

I’ve had my nails done every 3 weeks for 2 years with BIAB with no ill effects. However, 2 weeks ago, I noticed my nails seemed to lift. I had the gel removed. This is what they looked like.

The exact same thing happened to me after regular gels. All my nails lifted off. Took ages for them to grow back. I only use nail varnish now!
