Seeking recommendations for day moisturiser for mature skin

I am 52. No major skin complaints, except my eyes are extremely sensitive so I have to be careful with that. I can have a bit of an oily forehead. I also use foundation and powder on top every day. I am looking for a day moisturiser that will, well, moisturise but not cause my make up to slide off. Also in the market for a primer. Budget or around £30 per product and need to boy online. I'll be talking to no make up consultant. Thanks!

Tbh, moisturizer is there to moisturize so any you feel comfortable with. Glycerine, Hyaluronic acid are your main moisturizing ingredients and both as cheap as chips.
So any Nivea, Olay, Garnier, L'Oreal, Superdrug own brand etc.
If you want to spend a bit more, you won't go wrong with La Roche Posay. I'm currently using Toleriane Dermallergo as my face is a bit wind burnt.
No7 also good and often on 3x2.

I love Farmacy Honey Halo cream, think it's available online on cultbeauty.co.uk. It has ceramides in it and makes my skin look lovely. I wear foundation and it doesn't slide off (no primer, foundation on after vitamin C, hylauronic acid, honey halo, SPF). My skin is dry though, you might want to try a sample size to see if it works for your type of skin.

What finish are you after?

If you want an all in one the charlotte tilbury magic cream doubles as a primer for me but its got a glow to it.

I think moisturizers are a bit hit and miss. What works for one person may not for another. I often use certreban which works well for me. It's a basic non fragranced moisturizer which chemists sell. Works well with make up.

Best to see if you can buy small travel sized ones to try before committing to a bigger tub. I'm sick of buying things which don't work for my skin so like to get the smaller versions to try first.

I agree with moisturisers being a bit hit and miss with regards to who they suit.

However, fwiw, I like Inkey Lists' Vitamin B, C and E which (for me) matches what you want.

Highly recommend Face Theory. Have two of their creams, one a vitamin c one, one a retinol one, and they are brilliant.

For primer, I recommend Benefit's Porefessional, I haven't found better yet. I don't put it everywhere though, just in the places which I feel need a little evening out and where the texture isn't so great, so mainly on the t-zone, around the nose, chin etc... It's superb for creating a nice level surface, gives a much more even look and makes my make up stay on longer.

As for moisturiser, as someone else mentioned, this really will be down to personal preference and skintype but for performance mixed with price, the L'oreal Revitalift line is great - I've just bought the Red Ginseng energising cream. If you wanted/ need something lighter, you could try Garnier's Vitamin C Serum Cream, think it has SPF 25 too, though you'll probably want to add higher protection too, especially because we're heading into Spring/ Summer season.

I have recently started using NIVEA Cellular Luminous 630 Anti-Dark Spot serum and moisturiser. I have combination skin and these are lovely and light and not at all greasy.

I'm a couple of years older than you and absolutely swear by Boots Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced. I've tried more expensive creams, but always come back for this. It's extremely good value for money and always seems to be on 3 for 2 so I stock up whenever I'm in the UK.

haribonoyoudont · 28/03/2023 19:35

I've been doing No.7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced too, with a small amount of The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed oil on top to seal it all in.

I’m almost a decade older than you and often use very high end skincare. I like Sunday Riley CEO but it is 60.00 for 50g. At your price point I would look at Lange Paris in TK Maxx, I really rate the algo active night cream reduced from 110 to 17.99, they also do day creams. Other than that Boots sells La Roche Posay and it’s on 3 for 2, so you could try 3 different moisturisers.

learieonthewildmoor · 28/03/2023 19:53

For the primer, Stila One Step Correct. Comes in three skin tones now. I use translucent. Been using it instead of tinted moisturiser/ foundation with a bit of concealer: great for a no make-up look.
Kiehl’s are a terrific brand.
