Wanting products to apply/scrunch into my hair to let it dry naturally and look half decent. See attached pic this is my hair when scrunch with no product and air dried, a little wavy but not much definition and is frizzy. My hair is thin and limp (worse than usual due to post partum).

As I have a baby I have little time to style my hair so just want to wash it, put a few products in and let it dry. I know there's a process of applying product, getting out excess water with a clean cotton t shirt etc. when a diffuse my hair it goes lovely and curly so I know it's possible. any suggestions?

Sorry no advice but placemarking!

Percy & Reed anti frizz, you just spray it on and brush or comb through

Umberto Gianini curl jelly or the L’Oréal waves mousse/gel/cream depending on how thick your hair is (mine is wafer thin) -I use mousse or gel but in sopping wet hair, literally only just blot the worst of the water out once, scrunch in product and then don’t touch til it’s dry

I use L'Oréal Professional Spiral Queen mousse. It doesn't leave my hair crunchy or greasy. As for frizz it's that time of year, heating will dry your hair out. My hair was getting dry and frizzy and when I told my hairdresser that I sat next to a radiator at work she told me that was causing it.

Frizz ease curl crème mixed with cantu custard. These two together work really well for me, I mix a dollop of each in my hands and then comb through using a wide toothed comb and then scrunch and diffuse.

My hair looks similar to your OP. I have to diffuse to get a good curl pattern. I use a leave in and Only Curls gel and get this.

It's all a bit trial and error
I use flora and curl foam and treluxe gel but what works for me might not work for you! My hair is really fine and I follow Curlmaven on IG for tips

Aveda curl products

The Umberto Giannini curl crème and gel work well for me. I've also just got the Cantu wave whip mousse because it was in offer in sainsburys. It seems to work well.
If that's your hair with no product, I think you'll get a lot of curl and definition with some gel or mousse.
Scrunch in gel or mousse while wet. Leave it and don't touch hair until it's properly dry. Then scrunch out the cast with a bit of hair oil. Avoid silicone and sulphates.

Another fine haired curly here. I get good results from a light leave-in conditioner (I’ve used label m leave in conditioner for years and it’s great), followed by the umberto giannini curl jelly

AuntieDolly · 26/03/2023 12:04

Cantu curl crème as I hate it being crunchy. It smells good too

OhFFS! · 26/03/2023 12:12

Trepadora is very good especially the new mousse

GracePooleslaugh · 26/03/2023 14:16

I like "Round Trip" by Paul Mitchell. Not crunchy and not heavy.

Volver · 26/03/2023 17:33

Just a warning about Cantu products: they are very heavy on most curl patterns (except type 4) and fine hair.

John Frieda is full of silicones which build up too, unless you use a strong sulfate shampoo with every wash day.

I think for styling you’d be better off with Umberto Giannini Curl Gel and/or Pantene no 5 mousse: both silicone free so if you decide to use low sulfate shampoos they won’t cause as much build up.

Flora&Curl, Boucleme, Curlsmith ranges are all Curly ranges that you can often get discounted on lookfantastic website.
The Aveda b curly range is highly rated by some curlies. Ditto Trepadora but be careful as that can be heavy too on finer hair/looser wave patterns. There’s so many really difficult to recommend as they work for different hair types/patterns.

Looking at your pic I would say you have fine hair, with a 2B/C pattern and it needs lots of hydration but not necessarily a lot of heavy deep conditioning (be careful with Shea Moisture range as that can be very heavy too, but imho better than Cantu if you need deeper moisture)

Personally I use Inner Sense shampoo and conditioner (buy online at Cult Beauty) Really great products, clean ingredients and despite the high price they last such a long time (highly concentrated) they are worth investing in.
For styling I use a tiny pea of the Inner Sense conditioner and add 1 pump of Pantene or Flora&Curl mousse and then finish with Boucleme (yellow bottle) gel.
I do all this with very wet hair as it helps control frizz and lock in hydration.
I’ve got curlier pattern than you but my hair is fine and easily weighed down so I use only small amounts of all the styling products: what helps is that they spread easily as my hair is very wet when I apply, before scrunching and then patting carefully with a t shirt before diffusing.

A lot is down to technique as well as locking in hydration with styling products.
You said you had no time to diffuse but honestly just 10/15 minutes diffusing will make a massive difference and speed it all up. I guess the biggest tip to avoid frizz if you have no time to diffuse is not to touch curls while they are drying naturally and the Gel “cast” is setting as that helps minimise frizz: just scrunch it out once your hair is totally dry for frizz free curls.
Some frizz comes with the territory though 😬 and it gives nice volume too!

And the best tip is a good Curly Haircut from a curl hairdresser, it makes the biggest difference plus you get lots of tips on products and how to make the best of your curl pattern. Appreciate not so easy to organise with a baby but maybe something to plan for later?

Some FB groups are very good and keep files on products and hair dressers and where you’ll get lots of useful tips, so if you use FB I recommend Sensible Curly People UK: it’s a private group but you just ask to join and they’re not evangelical on CG method nonsense like exclusively co washing etc etc.

I hope this helps: you’ve got lovely waves and curls, a gorgeous beachy vibe.

I have fine wavy hair and boucleme gel is what I’ve found works for me.

It doesn’t work for DD2, she uses Shea moisture conditioners, argan oil and eco gel. She has curlier slightly thicker hair.

DD1 has thick curly hair and uses a completely different again set of products!

Schmutter · 26/03/2023 18:03

I great fantastic results with boucleme, but the smell is utterly repugnant to me, so I don’t use it.

Volver · 26/03/2023 18:09

@Schmutter how funny! I love the Boucleme smell (they use essential oils so to me a bit Spa like) but agree you either love or hate as they are strongly scented.
I don’t get on with their cleansers and conditioners but all their styling range is truly Fab.

Schmutter · 26/03/2023 18:15

Volver my hairdresser thinks I’m mad, as she loves the smell.

Volver · 26/03/2023 18:29

@Schmutter yeah 😬 I wouldn’t have been quite as direct as your hairdresser but I’m with her 🤣 I think Boucleme have brought out a unisex gel so that may not be as highly scented as the old range, worth checking out the ingredients anyway
