What sort of facial do I need?

I am starting to get conscious of my skin and want a proper facial but know nothing about skincare. Yes, mainly inspired by Katherine Ryan’s passion for skincare 😄 Not a ‘wash your face’ facial but a ‘sort out your issues’ facial.

Issues:
lots of sort of under-the-skin small bumps on forehead and under eyes ie rough skin
dull looking skin
excema on eyelids which really really sags the skin and is either red or very flaky so makeup doesn’t work at all
a few fine wrinkles starting but not so worried about that yet

Problem is I have a connective tissues disease which means I often get a malar rash and, not sure if this is a separate issue, but my skin is VERY sensitive to products and often I get allergic reactions. So I’m scared to use products. I react to CeraVe for example.

I have a red/blue/green light mask for this reason (to avoid products) and use Cetaphil but that’s it.

I want someone to clear and brighten my skin, I basically want them to hoover all the shit out and keep it fresh and radiant and smooth for me.

What kind/brand/style of facial should I look for??

Thanks!

Hydrafacial maybe? It's not a very pampering experience though if that's important to you

I have under-the-skin bumps and swear by extractions with steam. However my facialist quit during lockdowns 😥and still looking for someone anywhere near as good unfortunately. She was Dermalogica who I believe have a range for sensitive skin; but not sure how your excema would react to the steam... I used to leave the salon feeling like my face was a freshly washed sheet, it was amazing

Definitely not a hydra facial! It’ll make any sensitivity worse. Find a clinic that specialises in skincare (often coupled with laser clinics). Go independent and not a chain and a full consultation should be free. Check for good solid qualifications including additional CPD training and expect to pay £70-100 for an hour. If you’re in or near Essex or SE feel free to DM me for some recommendations x

Thanks for the info @OrchidFlakes thats really helpful! I’m near Guildford so not sure if you can help there but I’ll get googling. So far results have been more in the £200+ range which is not doable for me.
