When did you start losing volume in your face?

I know it's inevitable but I'm only 31 and didn't expect it already. I take very good care of my skin, I do eat too much sugar but I'm working on cutting down. Otherwise I do everything 'right'.

I've noticed in the last couple of weeks that I've got small smile lines at the sides of my mouth that are there when I'm not even smiling, and that my nasolabial folds are slightly more pronounced. I just feel a slight loss of volume in that area. Also convinced that my lips are slightly thinner than before, but it might just be my mind playing tricks on me.

I just didn't expect these changes to happen so early. I know people say ageing is generic, and I'll get endless posts about people telling me they're 50 but look 25 despite smoking 50 a day since they were 11 and sunbathing.

But my parents have very good skin, my Mum's is slightly worse because she smokes but my Dad has zero sagging and the only wrinkles he has at 60 are forehead lines.

'm considering fillers in this area, I don't really think any creams etc. Would restore volume? What age did this happen for others and did you do anything about it?

  1. Done nothing, it's too expensive. I do Botox, better value.

Which areas do you get the Botox in? Do you find it helps?

Once I had a hysterectomy and went through surgical menopause mid 40’s.
Until then I honestly looked about 30 and had fantastic, wrinkle free skin as I’ve used a face protector every day since I was 20.
I need shares in Benefit Porefessional. I wouldn’t risk injecting myself with anything, I’ve seen a few bad jobs & id rather look wrinkly than like that!

I had fillers in all the places you've just mentioned - marionette lines, nasolabial plus smokers lines - for first time on Tuesday. I made thread on here Tuesday night cos I was so upset how swollen and stupid it looked and I was really regretting it but things have started to settle down already and I'm thrilled with the results, specially my downward, miserable mouth which looks normal and happy again.
I also had botox for crows feet and between my eyes, although this has not taken full effect yet, I can tell it's working already.
However, I am in my 50s and feel the menopause has ravaged my face and i didn't recognise myself on the rare occasions i had to look in the mirror. But i am already worried how I'm going to be able to keep it up when it starts to wear off. As much as i'm happy with the results, I'm not sure it's something i can afford to get done on a regular basis. If I'd started getting it done in my 30s I'd probably he bankrupt by now!
I know this sounds very hypocritical of me after saying all that, but I do think we get bombarded by so much social media and images of women with perfectly smooth features, whether because of procedures or filters, we feel like we should all look the same as them and I'm afraid it's mostly just unachievable. I'm glad social media, filters and 'tweaks' weren't commonplace when I was in my 20s and 30s as the pressure nowadays is too much.
I'm not sure what I'm trying to say as this is a very mixed message, except I understand how you feel being unhappy with how you look but just be aware that once you start, it's going to be hard to stop and we all might end up skint with ridiculously pumped up faces and lips which make us look like a caricature of ourselves.
If you go ahead, please do your research and preferably pay the little extra for a medical professional, rather than someone with no in depth training. Sometimes it's true that you get what you pay for.
Good luck
