Thanks for the sweater love. I knit a lot but mainly baby cardigans. We've had a few new babies in the family recently and also it's a good way of using up little bits of wool. My top tip, which you probably know already, @faffadoodledo is to check your tension. I'm going to get my daughter to teach me to crochet so I can use up the even smaller bits of wool. Yesterday dress marks and Spencer, cardigan Hobbs.

Yes @Greyhairwarmheart and @faffadoodledo definitely always do a gauge swatch! It’s saves a lot of hassle. Even if you don’t get exact gauge you can maybe change the size you knit to get the size you want!

@kingofchaos, you look fab, enjoy them, they are fun. I've been eyeing up the new Lucy and Yak brightly coloured mini pinis, they are really fun prints. But trying to stay away as I'm supposed to be on a no clothes buy now!

@Netcam I love the mini pini's too, but worry they may be a strp too far for a 50 year old!

They have quite a few on Vinted at a cheaper price if you were interested....

I'm 53 and bought this Blair skirt from there last month. It's been too cold to wear it, but I like it. I like this flowery mini pini but have been a bit unsure. Basically I got a denim mini mini from there at the same time as I got the skirt and it broke after one wear and wash. They have given me a refund, so I could use that to replace it with the flowery one and kind of stay on no buy! But I'm a bit concerned about durability, although my other mustard cord Blair skirt seems fine so far. Maybe it was a one off. I think the colourful pini minis would be great for summer, could wear that flowery one over almost any coloured T-shirt and for me, cover my post menopausal flabby middle!

@kingofchaos, thanks, flattery will get you everywhere! But not really, that skirt shape just manages to hide all the bits that could do with being covered up in public. Might order the green/yellow flower skirt with my refund if I can find a discount code. I love flat, geometric prints like that. Trying really hard not to make our new bedroom too Orla Kiely at the moment, have curtains and 2 lamps which is probably enough.

The weather is terrible over here, so I chose cheerful colours for a lunch with the European woman I met last week. We've been chatting non-stop like we knew each other for ages, glad I met her!

I caved and just ordered this one with my refund, so kind of stuck to no buy, or no additional buy!

That will be 3 Lucy and Yak Blair skirts I'll have, so probably enough! Will leave the mini pinis.

Now the weather has to warm up enough for me to wear them. Sorry it's freezing in Japan too, same over here.

At least we have the painting of the new bedroom planned for the weekend, our paint we ordered has arrived, although the weather forecast seems to say it's warming up.
