Want to buy clothes that I love...

...but end up buying stuff that will "just do". I spend a lot on clothes (not high end but upper high street) but nothing sparks joy. I keep buying, hoping that I'll love stuff but I never do, Where am I going wrong?!

It's certainly easy to swish around in waterproofs. Depending where you live and the percentage of rainfall one gets.

That said, I am not in a rainy region, but it would help if there were any current styles that actually DID spark joy for me, I tend not to like most of what's on offer that the moment.

There are also many, many towns and villages across the UK that do not have indie shops or boutiques, let alone proficient local tailors who will build from a pattern for you.
I had a beautiful English tweed long coat altered a few years ago, she practically reinvented it, just beautiful and fits as if it was made for me only. That, I think, is quite rare.

The presumption that we can just learn to make our own is similar to expecting the average person to know how to paint a true to life portrait with oils. Just hold my coat darling, I'm off to knock up some wool trousers, won't be a jiff!

Work out what you love, then only buy that!

Some seasons will be easier than others depending on how close fashion comes to what you like, but it’s perfectly doable.

You could also try a styling box like Lookiero?

Out of curiosity only I looked at Stitchfix and Lookieroo websites. I can't imagine getting much joy there.

I'm also on a low buy but buying better, but just did a count I've brought 11 items already this year, most are winter items brought in the sale, so not too bad, I love polo fitted tops or high necks, thin ones I wear under cashmere jumpers/ shirts but they are hard to find, I have 2 to from h&m and 3 from newlook, but after a few washings they fade I have had them two years, only worn between October and April, I would like to buy some better quality ones so I can chuck the others out, I did order one from whistles sale but the neck was very loose.
