Would you judge me?

Going through my MiL's bags yesterday ( she recently passed away) and found a "Prada" bag. I know it's a fake as nothing other than the plaque is branded, but it's a really nice bag. It's also well made, not excellently though.

I'm considering using it and as it's so obviously a fake I was wondering if designer bag afficionados would judge me , or would no one notice.

People who would judge your bag will judge you on everything you wear, your hair, makeup etc. Friends won’t judge, who cares what some random person may or may not think? I don’t think people will be pointing and making comments - so how will you know your being judged anyway?

I would just wear it if you like it or enjoy it. Most people barely look at anything other than themselves or notice things like this at all. The amount of people who'd know for sure it was a fake would be so very small that it's not really worth worrying over. This is S&B so responses saying they would or that it matters are always going to be disproportionate to your every day % of peoples interests or what they care about.

Add that to the fact that most people either couldn't care less about bags or others outfits then the issue becomes even more non existent.

I think anyone who has the time to meaningfully judge someone else's outfit or the brands/fakes they wear and feel negatively about it or be scathing or hurtful about that that isn't really in a position to call another person shallow etc and shouldn't be given any power to make you alter what you want to wear.

And people who will only use a designer bage aren't shallow and materialistic?

To me, and most people, a bag is a practical receptacle to carry stuff around in. To have an aesthetically pleasing one is even better. Judging people who don't use a designer bag or who use a fake one says more about you than it does about the wearer.

I'll be honest, I do not get the adulation that some women have about deigner bags, accessories and clothes.

Op how I’d judge you would depend on our relationship and the sort of person I think you are. If you were someone who liked to show off their wealth with brands or was generally a bit flashy then I would assume you had bought a fake bag to fool people and so I’d judge you.

If you were not generally a show off then I’d assume it was just a bag you liked and probably not give it a second thought.

I wouldn't judge you. Some people like the design without the price. If you are worried compare your mil bag to a real one and see how bad it is. If you'd worry then don't carry it. Personally if it was a really obvious fake I wouldn't carry it but I'm not a knob so I wouldn't judge you

I agree with this. I'd rather have a nice, well-made bag that was unbranded than carry a fake one. I'd feel embarrassed encase anyone clocked it.

What makes them more ‘shallow and materialistic’ than someone carrying an actual Prada bag? Aren't the two equally so, but one is poorer than the other?
