Skin care routine for late 50’s

I admit I haven’t got one. I don’t wear any make up unless it’s a special occasion. My skin is starting to look really lined and wrinkly. Any recommendations for products I should be using? My skin is quite dry and sensitive and at the moment I use micellar cleansing wipes. Think I’m a lost cause

I use CeraVe wash, PM moisturiser and CeraVe eye cream. I take make up off with Body Shop cammomolie balm and/or CeraVe micellar water .

You’re not a lost cause!

I would start with a simple routine. Cleanse, tone and moisturise. Once you’ve got that factored in every day, you can look at adding a serum and night creams.

I like Liz Earle products. It’s a hot cloth cleanser, light toner and a good moisturiser and an eye cream.

You will get lots of suggestions on here and it will become overwhelming. You might be good going to Boots and just picking up their own range of products but I would start with those 4 basic products until you’ve got the hang of a routine twice a day, then add in extras.

If your budget allows then head to a department store for counters such as Clarins and get some advice from staff.

The micellar wipes are very drying. You'd be better finding a non drying cream cleanser. A good moisturiser with hyaluronic acid also will help. The cerave serum one gets good reviews. The Ordinary is a good place to start with these things as its not expensive but it all works. I really like their simple HA moisturising factors .

What you need long term is retinol. But it is about building it up over a long period so it doesn't irritate. I started with the granactive retinol from The Ordinary and am now on a higher strength from a different brand. I am 54 and my skin looks better than it has in years. Plus a good sunscreen.

I take my make up off with micellar water and use liz earle cleanser a few times a week. Euercin moisturiser and an spf. Sometimes a blob of hyaluronic acid. My skin is fine.

I've just seen a deal on QVC that looks good. I'll can't link but if you go to the home page and scroll down you will see it. You get money off as a first account holder and check top cash back too.

I was my face with a magic cloth in the morning, then use nip &Fab dragon's blood serum then moisturise with whatever moisturiser I have at hand. I have a glossy box subscription so tend to have loads around.

I must admit I tend to use the spf in the moisturiser instead of a proper one but I don't spend much time outdoors.

In the evening the magic cloth again but if I've worn make up I'll cleanse first. Then the same serum and I use Nivea night cream as I need the extra richness overnight.
