Nose piercing

Been thinking of having a nose piercing for a while. I'm wanting just a very small diamond style stud.

How long does it take to heal?

Can you start off with a small stud? I read somewhere you have to start with a large stud?

How tricky is it to change piercings?

I don’t think they ever 100% heal. If I leave mine out for a day it can be a bit sore to get back in. after the 6 weeks healing period I couldn’t leave it out more than an hour still.

the stud is usually not that big to begin with, but I wear a smaller one now. I’ll add a pic comparing the two.

the screw type studs I find hard to get in, I like the L shape or the ones with a little ball on the end.

I’ve had mine a few years now and love it.

the first studs still had some black under it where she marked it so ignore that 😂 - always make sure they use a needle and not a gun!

Thanks so much @4EyesandBigThighs . How soon can you change to the smaller stud?

Yours looks lovely 😍

I'm off on holiday in 9 weeks, if I got it done in next week or two do you think it would be healed in time? Wondering whether to wait till after the holiday just in case.

Fwiw, I regret changing to the smaller stud and wish it would still fit the larger one.

3 to 6 months healing time, minimum. You can wear a small jewel but the post usually needs to be 16 or 18 gauge. Don’t have it pierced with a hoop or a nostril nail; flat back labret only.

My husband got his done recently, I'd say it took about a month to heal properly. It's been 3 months and he hasn't changed the stud yet but I think he wants a ring.

I’d say at 9 weeks you can change the stud over, I’d make sure the new stud is sterile though, and not a cheap metal one, boil it for 5 minutes before swapping them 🤓

I had mine done at uni with a thicker type stud. I changed it quite quickly as was going home to my parents and my mum hated them, so wanted to put something less noticeable in. Haven’t worn it for years now, but can still get one in if I want, but it does go red for a while. Having just had more done, definitely keep the original and leave it in for as long as they tell you - definitely go for the needle piercing. It’s only a few months of your life, so I’d make sure you do it properly and give it time to heal.

Do it!!!
I had my nose Pericles last year and I absolutely love it!
My healing journey was not grata though, but a year on I'm happy that it's healed now.
I started off with a stud. I was advised to keep it in for about 6ish months. The stud was larger then what I wanted but it wasn't ridiculous. You could start with a hoop.

I developed a piercing bump. Hemeroid cream sorted that right out no problem.

It got infected when I tried to change it myself. I had to have antibiotics. Cleared up straight away.

Do not change it yourself, especially early on. Piercers care about you and your piercing and will happily do it safely.

But yes, do it! You will love it ☺️

It was a good couple of years before mine was completely healed insofar as I could change jewellery confidently and without any discomfort.

Mine was pierced with a very small jewel - if you go to a decent piercer they'll have plenty of choice. The days of having to have a big stone as starter jewellery are long gone - unless of course that's the look you want!

I had mine pierced a year ago and love it. It will take a long time to fully heal, maybe 6 months.
I did go on holiday about 10 weeks after having mine and it was fine, I was just careful not to catch it when applying sun lotion and kept it out if the pool water.
Changing piercings can be tricky, I can’t do the labret style myself which is my preferred style for comfort, hoops are a bit tricky but manageable. The L style ones are easy. Except for a downsize you shouldn’t really be changing them often at first, as they are cartilage piercings they can be prone to irritation bumps. I got one but it went after a while.
I would recommend having a small diamond or crystal, I think they look really good.
