What to wear step daughters wedding

clpsmum · 19/03/2023 21:16

So my step daughter is getting married and it is a huge affair. I don't know where to start looking for an outfit. I'd rather an evening dress type outfit rather than the traditional motb outfit as I'm obviously not motb!!

I'm 45 and (hope to be) size 12 and 5'5"

Any and all recommendations very greatly welcomed and appreciated

Not sure where you are in Scotland but Catherine's of Patrick and CatWalk in Falkirk both have a great reputation for posh wedding outfits - my own mum got hers between the 2 for 3 mother of the bride moments.

Catherine's if Patrick is pretty close I'm in glasgow. I've looked at their website but think they are a bit too mother of the bride when I'm just the Stepmum. I do t want to stand on anyone's toes

Nobody’s child has nice stuff, bought a dress, needs shortening, I’m 5’4”, reasonably priced too £59, with discounts £51, then shortening around £20.
My grandson’s christening in June, add in shoes and bêleront, expensive

Oh I absolutely love this think I will order this anyway for the wedding or something else!!

Yey that’s me feeling useful today 🤣 I’m not normally good with stuff like this but I’m looking myself for my honeymoon and for my mum for my wedding so I’ve had a few things bookmarked

clpsmum · 20/03/2023 21:55

West of Scotland wedding so definitely quite glam.

Frox of Falkirk are great.
L Occasionwear Ayr - better in store than online.

Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh stock some amazing bags and shoes.

QuickNameChangeForMeToday · 20/03/2023 22:21

Oh Mia Bella in Glasgow is absolutely worth a look too.

@clpsmum
The Zimmerman one from Harvey Nicks is classy. It’s silk. The polyester ones at £45? I wouldn’t. Some guests will know class when they see it.

HolidayHappy123 · 20/03/2023 23:58

Have a look at Tadashi Shoji. They are very good at shipping to the UK and their dresses are glamorous but well priced.

Yeah you are right and never treat myself so would like to treat myself to something that would normally be out of my budget

I have the phase eight Julissa in black but it comes in lots of colours and is so flattering and perfect for a wedding.

I absolutely LOVE the link to the Ghost dress in lots of colours, really beautiful ❤️

Have a look at Gina Smart too, if you’re going to Ayr. Agree West Of Scotland/footballer wedding will be glam. Somewhere like Gina Smart, might be the opposite of what you’re looking for, but at least you’ll have an expectation of what others will be choosing to wear. There’s a reason these shops survive.
