Laser hair removal

Has anyone here had laser hair removal on their upper lip?

I have dark but fine hair on my upper lip, and some around my chin and jawline too. I'm considering laser hair removal as an alternative to Nair and the like which my skin often reacts to.

I'm particularly interested in the cost (recent costs?), side effects, any skin redness or other visible effects afterwards both immediately and in the days following the procedure(s). How many sessions did you need?

And finally for those that have had it done can you recommend any clinics in NE England?

Thank you in advance!

I was told bt a reputable electrolysis clinic that laser is great for below the neck only.
They said lasor actually stimulates hair growth on the face due to the nature of what triggers male pattern hair growth in women .
Sorry if my wording isn't great.
They don't offer lasor treatment but recommended lasor for legs etc.
They explained that lasor will halt the regrowth of hair on the face but at the same time stimulate the hair follicles in the long term.

I had laser hair removal at Sk:n for dark hair on my upper lip, jawline, cheeks which started up in peri menopause . It was thick hair and I was so self conscious and was forever plucking, shaving it etc and had really bad rashes. Laser worked amazingly well. I have a genetic condition that causes very sensitive, easily bruised skin but had virtually no redness even immediately after each treatment. They always had really good offers on courses of treatments so I never paid full price. I must say that upper lip was painful for me but they were so good . They fired cold air from a high powered fan at the area, told me to hold my breath and just did one or two clicks and stopped and then did two more. I'm so glad I got it done. My confidence was lifted and I could just forget about worrying if people noticed it.

Thanks, I've had a look on Sk:n's website and they seem to have offers on currently.

Would be good to hear from someone with fine hair too. It would just be good to get rid and not be self conscious about it growing back.

My skin looks clearer once I've removed it but the hair removal creams nearly always cause some redness and dry skin afterwards.

I definitely don’t have fine hair. At the time I was told thick dark hair and pale skin was the ideal combo for laser but that was about 6-7 years ago and the technology will have been upgraded I’m sure to work well with different hair and skin shades. They did a test area before they’d book you in for treatment to see how your skin reacts. My skin was always unhappy before I got it treated, from all the constant plucking, shaving and creams. I hope you find a solution that helps. So far mine has stayed hair free so I’m happy with that.

I also get treated at sk:n. The upper lip area is the most painful area to have it done. My treatment costs include jawline and chin areas so costs are higher than if it was solely just for upper lip but sk:n do fantastic deals if you purchase 6 or 8 treatments at a time. After treatment the areas treated usually turn red and I experience a few heat bumps that go away after a few hours. I have never been able to eradicate the hair permanently so have been having the treatment for a few years and attend clinic every 3 months as that for me is when I notice regrowth. Everyone is different and everyone experiences different results. Most people usually have 6-8 treatments back to back on a monthly cycle then a few tops up in the year. Some lucky people can eradicate the hair permanently in those 6-8 initial treatments, some don't. I have a friend who had 4 initial treatments on upper lip area and had permanent results for a year. She then became pregnant and the hair came back with a vengeance. She now has been going to clinic every month for a year and is yet to see permanent reduction like she initially had. Now what I am about to say might possibly be a game changer. My daughter who has fair skin and dark hair has had a very noticeable moustache since starting puberty. I enquired at Sk:n whether she could be treated but they do not treat under 16,s. I invested in a Phillips Lumea for her and after 5 treatments the upper lip area hair is all gone. It's like it was never there. She has to treat it monthly now as the hairs will grow back if she does not but the difference is amazing. This has annoyed me so much that the Lumea is so good. I have 4 treatments left on my account with Sk:n so when ive finished those I'm not renewing. I can treat myself at home and save a lot of money.

I've been going to Sk:n for a long time. The treatment is definitely effective. I have chin and jaw line done. I am on maintenance now and go every few months. I have dark skin and dark hair,it was explained to me thst I have to have a lower dose than someine with pale skin and dark hair. Apparently the latter is the ideal combination for laser. My friend has this combination and she no.longer has to go. It changed my life. Used to have so much facial hair. The treatment is painful,I am a baby but I think,12 minutes for massive gain. Buy a package. There are always offers.

That's interesting, which model Lumea is it that your daughter uses?

Not sure the model number but it's the latest one through the test and buy programme. All details on the Phillips website. Best purchase ever!
