Should I come out of the grey closet and stop dying my hair?

Pros:

It is boring
It is expensive
My scalp hurts

Cons:

I will look silly with grey hair
I will look like a grandma and not a ma
I will receive prejudice whilst looking for work

Anyone with an opinion here?

Don't dye it! I stopped dying mine when PG with DD now 2.5. I am now about 35% grey now - they are my natural highlights! I'm 34 BTW.

Lubyloo do you think you get treated differently now?

i would go a little lighter on the base color and then have hilights in light blonde through the top and sides ( t section ) and then that shoould desguise your grey as it grows through and that way will also legnthen the gap between visits x also you could try a mobile hairdresser as they are always a bit cheaper x
and it shouldnt hurt your scalp !!

thanks bb

I haven't noticed that I've been treated any diffrently. No one has offered yet to help me cross the road. Are you worried that people might react differently to you? I actually find it very liberating now that I don't dye.

Wuxiapian · 11/02/2008 22:38

I'm the same, unicorn.

I'm 30 and have quite a collection of grey strands and, even though I'd prefer them to stay dark, it's a part of the ageing process and I'm not going fall prey to the pressures of being "forever young"!

What's wrong with growing old gracefully, anyway?!

Besides, I really cannot be arsed with having to faff about with hair dye every few bleedin' weeks.

BumblBeee · 11/02/2008 22:39

I feel the job market is very ageist. I have been feeling a negative vibe on this since I turned 30 in fact so worry the grey hair will make things worse.

I work in New Media which might help explain my misgivings!
