What shoes do you wear to work?

To be more specific, if you:
a) work outside of the home
b) are a senior manager or generally just have to look smart?

I’m trying to put together a capsule wardrobe for work and am stuck on shoes for Spring / when it’s no longer boots weather.

Any links would be fantastic!

Kurt Geiger flat pumps and carvela heels (comfortable all day and great not too high) - relatively senior position (head of function)

We still have a smart office wear dress code and I am a manager. I generally wear rounded toe court shoes with a 2" block heel. They go well with trousers or dresses and are comfortable and easy to walk about the office and stairs. I have various colours.

I'm senior but in tech so it's a bit more of the cool/trendy side in work.

I also hate heels so I have some platform white loafers in summer to wear with pencil trousers. In the winter I sometimes wear Fly London wedge boots, smart leather skinny trousers and blazer.

Also Unisa boots work well

TrafficBlocking · 17/03/2023 08:20

I like loafers from dune with trousers and clarks wallabees with pencil skirt/straight skirts

I’m a senior manager so look relatively smart, but hopefully fashionable too. I’m not one for formal dressing.

If I go into the office, I’m still mostly in chunky Chelsea boots (from Hush).

When it’s less wintery, I’ll wear flatform trainers or chunky loafers.

I got these for work, they are so comfy and I get compliments all the time about them.

Comfy heels. I’ve got a pair of black simple heels and I also like light ankle boots.

Trainer ish things. But I work in an industry that is v informal and I thank my lucky stars for that when it comes to comfortable footwear

BangingOn · 18/03/2023 08:01

I have a similar dilemma OP, I am also a senior manager and whilst the office has become more casual since COVID trainers aren’t acceptable unfortunately.

I live in ankle boots in the colder months but struggle in the summer. I rarely wear trousers so loafers are out and whilst I’m glad about the demise of heels from a comfort perspective, I have legs that look fab in heels but terrible in flats.

I like moshulu for shoes and sandals.

I work in HE where nobody is smart. My senior manager wears jeans with walking boots in winter, and jeans with walking sandals in summer.
The director of my division wears trainers most of the year and Birkenstocks in summer.
Otherwise there are a lot of DMs, trainers and brogues, and Crocs. But mostly trainers.

louderthan · 19/03/2023 08:59

Just realised that doesn't answer your question op, sorry!
I do find discussions on work wear interesting, as I've never worked anywhere with a dress code apart from when there was a specific uniform.

queenofthewild · 19/03/2023 09:12

I bought these years ago. They go with dresses and trousers. They are smart and comfy and give a bit of a lift without me staggering around like Bambi on ice. I'd love another pair (or two) but can only ever find them on eBay in the wrong size.
