Eye primer (neutral) to stop eyeliner sliding off

Or any product that will stop me going panda-eyed by lunchtime! (I think I have incredibly oily eyelids, which is weird because the rest of my skin is dry…)

I have used a very expensive Nars one in the past (eye base I think) but can’t justify the cost and anyway it made my eyelids a bit sore if I used it every day)

any reccs??

This is possibly terrible advice, I don't know as I am absolutely no expert when it comes to makeup. What I do is before applying eye makeup I use a translucent setting powder just on my eyes and under eyes. I make sure to make sure my eyelashes get a good dusting too. Then I just apply eyeshadow and mascara over the top. As it's translucent it's fine if I'm only using a neutral eyeshadow as you can't see it underneath. It's the only thing that has worked for me to stop me losing the eyeshadow and mascara down my face by lunchtime! Others will probably have much better solutions though! x

Meant to say I think it helps by absorbing some of the oil!

If you have a problem with mascara, then a tubing one will be oil resistant.
To answer your actual question, the urban decay one is fab.

Oh thank you! Which powder do you use? Do you just dust it on with a large brush…? (Equally clueless about makeup!)

I have the same problem and I use the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer then powder over the top. Works pretty well.

I just use this one from Rimmel. It's available in five colours I think but I just get the translucent one. I use what is probably a blusher brush and just gently press it onto the eye area before applying eye makeup. It works for me and helps my make up stay in place.

I did also recently borrow a setting spray from my daughter (no idea what brand as she was visiting us from uni and has taken it back with her now) when I needed makeup to stay on from 8am all through the day to the evening as we would be out all day. It really helped also so would recommend trying that too but no idea on brand etc x

Another vote for the Urban Decay primer.
If you're a member of Beauty Pie, this is an excellent alternative www.beautypie.com/products/flawless-eyeshadow-primer

Rimmel Magnif’ Eyes primer is really good.

SleekMamma · 15/03/2023 13:07

I'm trying out Barry M eyelid primer. So far so good.

Lots to try, thank you!

NYX do a super-cheap one which is really good - has "high definition" in the name. Not QUITE as good as the bareMinerals one I had previously, but about a quarter of the price.

I bought a Primark eyeshadow primer the other day. It’s doing a good job for less than three pounds.
