Holy grail of work clothes

I was hoping that someone can help my find what I’m looking for - so about me:

  • mid 30’s
  • 5’4”
  • very pale
  • balayaged hair
  • company I work for is very young, creative and sporty although I work in a corporate side of it (jeans/trainers still fine but just need to be slightly smarter).
  • Pregnant - 11 weeks and don’t want to tell work yet. In a way thankful that I haven’t lost the baby weight from DC1 so I just look a bit fat
  • currently 14/16

I was on a Teams call yesterday and realised that I need to wear some more colour as I can’t be bothered to constantly fake tan.

What I’m looking for:

  • something to hide baby bump/bloating
  • preferably not all black
  • something I can wear with tights and Chelsea boots for the weather now and ideally with trainers in a few weeks when the weather picks up
  • budget - H&M/new look for example as bump will grow

I’m hoping someone has suggestions as feeling a bit lost at the moment style wise. I’d describe my usual style as quite preppy so I don’t want to go too ‘out there’.

thanks so much in advance!

That's a very specific list of requirements for someone on here to pick out actual clothes for you! Try a stylist appointment at John Lewis. What's your budget? I saw some amazing workwear in Tesco recently.

what about a jersey dress and an oversized sweater ?
A colleague had that on this week and looked lovely in it

&Other Stories do gorgeous plain silk shirts in a range of colours - they're quite loose fitting but great quality and look very contemporary when dressed down. I've got a bright orange one and a sky blue one (and a patterned one - not quite so plain but still gorgeous!). Maybe size up if you want to go extra slouchy/ oversized to hide your bump.

I found that people are very unobservant in general. A pair of maternity trousers provided you have a smart top to cover the damming waistband. A smart blouse/shirt and jacket will make it past most people. You'll never close the jacket but it creates a silhouette from the back and the side which will block direct view of your stomach area.

The nice thing about early preg is that you do just look a bit thick around the waist and most people will hide their time until they are damn sure rather than risk that level of embarrassment.

If would say that if like me you ate your way through life post partum and early toddlerhood, early preg is also a good opportunity to properly manage your weight and eat really healthily.

I might have the trick - I am living in this dress on my in office days. I leave the neck untied and tuck it inside so more like a little v neck/open collar. Nice and floaty so I think it would hide a bump especially a size up so not too clingy.
Easy to dress up/down and layer up in colder weather.
I have it in 3 colours 😛
