How do you wear your hair if it is very fine and straight (other than long)?

On my profile pic it is a lot thicker than it is now - all falling out since I had ds2! It looks totally flat and lifeless but I don't have the time or inclination to "style" it - what can I do with it? I'm probably going to end up growing it into a bob but am open to ideas (please) ... !

Very short

Miaou · 11/02/2008 16:52

Oh no, I couldn't do that - already as short as I am comfortable with!

you could have a root perm and maybe add some warm lowlites and maybe a few highlights to make it appear fuller and thicker

and just have it re styled with maybe some layers

Iota · 11/02/2008 17:09

over the years I have had it short, long ( flat and lifeless), pageboy (!), permed (terrible condition) and feather cut (you could see my scalp), but the only thing that ever looks good is a bob.

WelliesAndPyjamas · 11/02/2008 17:09

Mine's straight and tends to be fine. After trying a few different styles I've gone back to long. More versatile and feminine (which is what I wanted).

I think yours looks nice short as your face shape can take it.
Mine is boring and long and I kid myself it is better because I can do 'interesting' things with it
like scruff it into a bun or a ponytail or a slide or an alice band or leave it loose

kindersurprise · 11/02/2008 17:29

Mine is a sort of a bob. I have been told by my hairdresser that the Pob (Victoria Beckham bob) is out again.

It is a bit layered, but layered from underneath if that makes sense. I really like it. It gives the hair more body. I will upload a photo in a moment.

milkmoustache · 11/02/2008 17:45

Bobs are my favourite solution too, but get your hairdresser to do loads of razor cutting to give it texture and a bit of oomph.

Miaou · 12/02/2008 22:31

Thanks everyone - and for the pics too (kinder are you standing outside alnwick castle in your photo?). love your hair hanaflower but mine is so straight it wouldn't really work

MrsB, that's what dh says about my face shape - problem is my hair is so much thinner now that I look like the hippy mum in About A Boy and that is so not a good look! And as my style is quite ... erm, boho I guess, I'm trying to get away from that image

I think I am going to end up going for a bob with a bit of layering.

At the moment my hair is very long (back of bra length) with layers and shape around my face and a thick fringe.

Like this pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1620/1718331/13494093/224784781.jpg and pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1620/1718331/7940545/123387155.jpg

(thse pictures were taken at two separate times I would like to add!)

Kinderherzen · 13/02/2008 10:51

Oh, sorry, that is not the way I look at the moment, that was last summer. Although, I liked that cut too.

Having a slight technical problem getting the photos onto the pc. Will try again today.

Kinderherzen · 13/02/2008 11:07

Ok. Managed this time. Photos on profile.

And, yes, it is Alnwick Castle on the photo from last summer. We were on holiday in the area.

Miaou · 13/02/2008 15:38

Ooooooh kinder, I really like your hair - I wonder if mine would behave enough to go in a style like that? It is really soft and flops over my face though. That is exactly what I want, I have decided!!

Smurfgirl, your hair is luscious! But I'm too old to wear mine long now (IMO).

Highlights/ lowlights are good on fine hair, make it look like it's got a bit more texture. I feel better if I have some although too lazy/ mean to have them all the time. I think that your hair looks really nice in the beach picture on your profile.

Kinderherzen · 14/02/2008 12:49

My hair is soft and floppy too and it is just great for this style. I got it done in Glasgow the last time I was home in UK. I am dreading getting it cut here as I am not sure if they will get it right.

I blowdry with a big paddle brush and go over really quickly with my straightners. My hair actually has a bit of a wave, but only on certain parts. If your hair is dead straight, then you can save yourself the straightners.

Anyone needing a great hairdresser, Sara Beth in Glasgow is brilliant.

DarthVader · 14/02/2008 15:06

I think you have a really pretty face and that a shortish layered bob would really suit you like Shelley Conn or maybe slightly shorter

suwoo · 14/02/2008 15:13

My hair is straight and fine and only looks nice long, short for me is a no-no and a bob makes my face look fat, I have a pic on profile. Sorry I can't make any other suggestions.

SpacePuppy · 14/02/2008 15:15

My mum had the same problem, then a friend of hers had chemo and lost her hair. Suddenly the said friends' hair grew back thick and luscious! It turned out that they recommended to her to rub a drop or two of bergamot oil into her scalp once a week. My mum's doing this now and she has short two cm hairs growing all over her head! Apparently it was recommended by the hospital staff where she had the chemo!
