Just looked at COS for the first time in years...

and noticed they've seriously upped production. I'd say to regular fast fashion levels now. I used to like the site because unlike so many others, there was a limited selection of good stuff, which was refreshing after endless infinite scrolls just looking for a cotton tee at M&S or H&M.

When I last looked at trousers on there, there's be around 30 to 50 items, now I'd say they're competing with Zara for never ending fashion crap, where your eyeballs spin in their sockets just to keep up with so much crap.

Is any store safe from over production nowadays? I bet they're still waxing lyrical about sustainability, lol.

All the local shops to me have closed down now, I used to buy fairly regularly as the jeans were a great fit for me. I can’t be bothered with the website though.

I think I prefer Arket now anyway.

And what is the difference between them and Arket? Struggling to distinguish now- Arket fabrics often stiffer and prices a little higher but often the basics are nearly identical

Its the opposite. Arket prices are a little lower. After H&M, the cheapest (and on a par quality wise with H&M imo) is &Other Stories, then Arket is supposed to be their 'mid range' and Cos is the 'highest' price point.

Cos changed their website recently and whereas before they removed all the clothing items that didn't sell with new stock, they now leave everything on their website even if there might be only one size left. Its a strange way of doing it imo as like the OP said, they end up with a vast quantity of items at any one time.

I have noticed a big increase in the cost of the clothing. Previously knitted jumpers were €59 and are now €79. They bang on about sustainability (which isn't true) and advertise as being 'clothes for life', yet they produce more and more products.

Imo they are pricing themselves out of their target market and it is little wonder they are closing so many of their bricks and mortar shops and returning to being an online retailer for the most part.

I know I'm two years late but totally agree that the styles are very boring now. Not interesting at all. And lots of polyester. Really disappointing as I used to love them.

I think they've got better in the last 6 to 12 months.

the fabric quality has slipped. And you’re right, I’m ‘over faced’ when I look at the website.
