Anyone use loreal revitalift in 30's

Hi everyone, I need some advice. I've noticed my skin is looking rather dull lately and if I don't put makeup I get told I look ill. I don't always wear makeup but when I do I've noticed it's settling in some fine lines and my makeup is starting to look abit rough. I've been looking up about loreal revitalift and there's so many I don't know where to start. I have read about one in particular that is quite heavy, I think it was the laser one I'm not sure. The purple one with hyaluronic acid seems to be quite popular. Does anyone use it and what's your opinion of it? I'm 34, I moisturise using cerave, I cleanse and make sure my makeup is off before bed. I use infallible foundation. My skin type is mainly dry and can get oily throughout the day. My fine lines are around my mouth and sides of my nose on my cheeks. I know ageing is inevitable but i just want something to help snooth it out a bit. Any tips, please feel free to share I'm so tired of skin thankyou

I'm sure Revitalift is good for what it is - an over the counter retinol. My issue is that it's quite expensive considering you can get the same active ingredient (retinol) in much cheaper formulas. Basically you are paying more for the brand name and the packaging.

Hyaluronic acid is a good ingredient to temporarily plump the skin, but it is already in the CeraVe products that you currently use.
If your skin is looking dull then I would recommend a Vitamin C serum in the morning and a retinol at night.
For Vitamin C I used Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow as it's cheap and has the right ingredients. Unfortunately you have to buy it online but Geek and Gorgeous is a great brand for reasonably priced active ingredients.

The Ordinary do some cheaper retinol serums that are great starting points.
To be honest though, I would recommend you work your way up to prescription strength retinol (called tretinoin) as it will make the biggest difference to your skin in the long term.
If you are in the UK you can subscribe to either Skin & Me or Dermatica and they will send you a monthly product containing tretinoin (and some other ingredients depending on your skin concerns). It is heavy duty stuff, as in you may get some irritation and peeling at first, but if you push through your skin will be way better after a few months.

Also be sure to use high strength sunscreen everyday if you are using actives.

Thankyou for your reply. I'm definitely open to trying other products, its mainly because when I was searching the Web for good products, the revitalise was the one that came up most so I assumed that was maybe the better product. I'll have a look at the geek and gorgeous too. I've got the ordinary pre reduceling toner because when I put my makeup on my pores seem alot larger so I might look more into their products too. I don't really want to spend too much incase they don't work or agree with my skin. The ceraVe is OK but doesn't absorb enough and can cause my skin to become greasy, especially in a morining.

If your skin is dull it sounds like you need better exfoliation- either something manual like a face scrub (I really love the Apri blemish one, I’m 42 and don’t have spots but the texture is really gritty and I love it) or something chemical like the Nip n Fab pads. I used to work for Clinique and then Chanel for 15 years and our starting point with dull skin was always exfoliating- if your skin is covered with dead skin cells none of the creams you use will work well.

Thankyou, I've just looked these up and they are cheap enough too, so will definitely be purchasing to try. I'm don't like to wear makeup all the time but have been recently due to being told I look ill without it, it really wears me down. The fine lines I notice more when I have got make up on. It cakes in the lines making them more noticeable and my face just looks dry with make up on too.

I've looked up some creams but there are so many with different strengths, such as the ordinary, I wouldn't know where start or what I'd need to be honest. It's also the same with nip and fab. There are so many creams and serums. What ingredients should I looks for. Sorry for the stupidness but after years of using just one cream and cleanser I'm put of my depth. My skin is dull and dry and fine wrinkles but I can't see anything that covers all of that. It says you can use hyaluronic acid and retinol in one go but struggling to find anything like that, unless it because I don't actually know what im looking for 🤣

To be honest it is a bit overwhelming at first, the only reason I warned you off Revitalift is that it's expensive for the ingredients but actually it might be a good idea for you to start with that and see how you get on.

Unfortunately no one cream is going to deal with everything. But there are a few basic ingredients that when used together can give good results. Although to be honest it's a bit trial and error because everyone's skin is different.

Hyaluronic acid is good for holding on to moisture so making your skin appear plump and moisturised. Nice to have, but doesn't really penetrate the deeper layers of your skin. It's already in lots of moisturisers so I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it.

Vitamin C serum (with L Ascorbic Acid as the active ingredient) - is an antioxidant that helps to brighten and even out skin tone. I use it in the morning to give my skin a glow.

Retinol increases cell turnover and helps to boost collagen production, which can help reduce the appearance of fine lines. Can cause a bit of irritation at first. Use at night time.

Glycolic Acid is an acid exfoliant that helps exfoliate the surface layers of the skin by breaking down the glue that holds the dead skin cells together. Can be irritating if overused so go gently. I also wouldn't use it on the same night as using retinol.

Niacinamide can help to reduce the appearance of pores and is good for oily or combination skin.

My basic routine is -

Morning
Vitamin C serum
Moisturiser
SPF

Evening
Gentle cleanser
Tretinoin (a high strength retinol)
Serum (usually niacinamide)
Moisturiser
Once or twice a week in the evenings I will use glycolic acid instead of tretinoin.

This is supposed to be good as a starter retinol, and you could work your way up to the 1%.
Disclaimer: I haven't used it personally but heard good things.

@Farmageddon thankyou so much that's really helped me alot.

I wouldn't bother with the l'oreal one. I'd go to Tretinoin rather than Retinol. Sometimes the over the counter Retinols are expensive for low quantity of the active ingredient.

I'm a similar age to to and I do this routine, my skin is really glowing.

Morning
Wash with flannel and water
Vitamin c serum
Hydronlic acid
Spf 50 (I like altruist face fluid for cheap or the Korean ones)
Erborian CC cream and lip balm

Evening
Oil or balm Cleanser
Tretinoin
Ceramide serum
Moisturiser
Few drops of oil or vaseline

It can be confusing and it is trial and error.

The way it works with Dermatica for the Tret is you send a pic of your skin and they send you a formula. I get it every 6 weeks it's £20.
If you are interested in that here is a discount code (I get £5 off)
