I’m 42 and my skin is looking terrible- papery, dry and patchy. I don’t mind the lines and wrinkles so much but I want to look healthy so what are the best products for glowing, plump and soft skin? Please send me your recommendations!

Thanks so much everyone. Have got some acids and moisturisers in the online shopping basket. What is skin+ me and how does it work? I’m currently breastfeeding so think retinoids are a no no for now but thinking ahead

It's a prescription/online service for Retinols and other skincare. Another one is Dermatica

Start with Dermatica /skin and me when you're not breastfeeding. If a stronger version of Retinol, you get a tube every 4-6 weeks and use after cleanse before Moistusier.

Just be careful with all the acids and actives. There is no way I would have happy skin if I used these daily.

I’m 43 and did quite a bit of research then started on skin&me, a wild mint set (these are all natural so I don’t think will impact the skin&me and they had sone good before and after pics/vids - not too expensive on offer at £59 ish for 5 products), collagen and hyalauronic acid supplement. I can’t say if any of it is working yet but thought I’d give it a few months then decide if it has made any difference.

I'm 43 and eight weeks into tret with dermatica. My skin got worse - drier and flakier for a couple of weeks - and since then improving every day. I don't need to wear foundation now. I only use it every other day with SPF. Not added back in all the serums, cleansers, oils I was using before.

Appreciate your bf, but when you aren't anymore it's the way forward.

48 and good skin here.

How often do you use moisturiser? I have the ordinary’s rose hip oil and Faith in nature moisturer in both my loos and moisturise every time I use the loo. Plus face massage.

I did do dérmica but ended up with a backlog so am working through that.

Personally I think cheap good quality products like the ordinary and faith in nature but use 7 times a day.

plus loads of water

OP, you say you're not bothered about wrinkles - but for those who are (and are probably older than you); I've found a silk pillowcase brilliant to sleep on when it comes to avoiding creases in the skin.

Ooo another thing- weekly steam with a facial steamer. Then a face masks. Not sure if it helps but makes me feel proactive

Taking an omega 3 supplement made the biggest difference to similar issues for me. Start from the inside.

Thanks everyone- I really appreciate the advice. Can vitamin c serum and glycolic acid be used at the same time? Or is it best to use separately at different times of the day I.e one in the am and the other in the pm?

Honestly everyone has different skin. I don't like to exfoliate with acids anymore as it's just too much for me with Retinol too, and vit c. I would add one in, use that only for a few weeks then see if you want to add more in. Lots of skin care is slow and steady

Both can be used at either end of the day but preferably not together. As vitamin C is an anti oxidant and helps protect against pollution that one's best in the morning.
Do the glycolic at night.

As important as it is to hydrate from the outside, its more important to hydrate from within.

I have dry skin, its tight without moisture. But i know when I am dehydrated.

i use Clinique moisture surge in the winter then dramatically different in the summer.

i have a cheap eye cream (caffeine from Boots “ingredients” range. I m past trying to reduce wrinkles, but this is moisturising and unperfumed.

at night i use coconut oil (home bargains cooking stuff) and Superdrug hyaluronic acid.

i wash with an old flannel and Boots No7 face wash every 4 days and in between i use micellar water and nivea eye makeup remover

my skin is really good.

CeriB82 · 11/03/2023 22:40

oh i use a quartz roller on my neck and face. I’ve noticed im a bit puffy in the morning so i use it when waiting for the kettle to boil. Its from Aldi. Its cooling and works! Drains those lymph nodes
