Bikini shaving rash - HELP

Daydreambeliever1 · 07/03/2023 21:20

i Have awful shaving rash in my bikini area. I have tried using conditioner, fresh blades, exfoliating scrubs and yet the rash always continues. I have quite coarse hair that grows pretty rapid meaning I shave the area every 2-3 days. I have just started to exfoliate before shaving, using body oil before shaving and then applying conditioner and shaving. I have then moisturiser after. Am I doing something wrong? Also I have only been exfoliating this week so only 2 times and moisturising. But still have lots of red dots and black where the hair seems to be underneath. Do I need to moisturise on the days I haven’t shaved? Is there anything else I can do. I live in a hot country and in the summer it’s a complete nightmare and makes me very self conscious.

Lumea has been a godsend for me, it's best on dark hair light skin combo which I am, wish I had known about and got one years ago.

I highly recommend professional laser hair removal. Phillips Lumea is cheaper, but laser machines at salons are a lot stronger.

@GoldilockMom i would love to be down to this little amount of re growth! Thanks for sharing the pics.

i really didn’t expect so much help and advise. It’s really appreciated. I think I’ll give the Philips machine a go! I just get worried these things won’t work on my stubborn hair! But I have to try something as this shaving is really not working whatever I do! Also sorry does everyone who’s sensitive here moisturise everyday or just days they’ve shaved?

You're not moisturising after shaving are you?! Far too sensitive! Even on my legs I would never moisturise straight after shaving; bikini line must be much worse!

OP, the first thing you really must do is allow time for the rash to fully heal. I agree with the Sudocrem suggestions up thread.

These days l go for regular Hollywood waxes, although l’ve tried a few things over the years. I’m in my 40s and have been “all off” since my late teens. The downside with waxing is that you have to allow for some regrowth.

Other options may be an electric/battery/shaver with a foil head. No chance of nicks and the blades spin round. I would think daily would be OK when healed. That would get you the closest dry shave.

lf you try for a wet shave again, try a 3 bladed Venus Raspberry with conditioner.

Finally, Veet may work (buy the sensitive one) but do the spot test first and you need to experiment around the recommended 10 minutes.

l have gone for all the above over the years, and still shave sometimes, when l get fed up with regrowth between waxes.

You used to be able to buy a liquid called tend skin which was designed to prevent shaving bumps, it was very strong surgical type stuff that stang if you weren't careful where it went, don't know if its still around as i bought an IPL thing and love it, barely ever need to shave anywhere now.

Spray deodorant on the shaved area when it's bone dry after shaving. I've heard five stick recommended but any works for me. Complete revelation. Baby powder helps a lot but spray anti perspirant stops it all - the rash is caused by sweat I think.

Right so I’ve decided I will save up and get a lumea! But in the mean time I’m gonna try and not shave for a while there and just exfoliate and moisturise! But yes did usually moisturise after shaving didn’t know this might make it worse?

I’ve ordered the Lumea this morning, I’ve been inspired by your thread. Will report back once I’ve used it!

@Timetochangetheoil amazing! So glad this post was useful to other people too! I go the beach and feel like I’m the only person with this problem honestly!
