somewhere before the EMO hair dye, dd had light brown hair and the skin of a red head ( takes after her gingy dad)

she has always had problems withspots

she is 14

her face is v. dry and just fucked up.

i hate to sound smug but - i am fairly dark skinned and have never worn foundation and have never sufered from anything other than the mount vesuvius which is the one period spot.

this however means that i know a big oad of fuck all when it comes to make up really.

foundation
powder

etc....

so - in the time it takes DD tostraighten her hair can you tell me what i should look out for

am goig to boots the chemist. and money isn't a problem as long as the quality and kindness to skin thing is primary.

thank you thank you thank you

does she really need/waant foundation/powder at 14?

surely if she didnt her skin would improve

or get some nivea tinted moisturiser if yo must

SheherazadetheGoat · 11/02/2008 09:12

dr hauschka products are v. good for fecked up skin. i use the rose cream which has sort out my red patch spoty skin. DONOT go near the clinque counter. can't really help with makeup but i suspect if you get teh moisturiser right you can wear anything within reason. good luck it is a misery being a teenager without crappy skin to rub salt in the wound.

Tortington · 11/02/2008 09:12

yes tinted moisturiser has been recommended by my cousin - so will deffo get that.

she will be 15 in 3 weeks,

and i am right there with ya.

stop putting that crap on your face and it will get better

and she shovels more crap on her face

what can i do but try and get her the best crap?

custard

i really cant think of make up thats good for problem skin. its all bad

DO get some good moisturiser AND a brilliant cleanser and toner - speak to estee lauder or clarins for cleanser etc - and make sure she cleans her face every single night

tbh simple cleansing wipes (£2.99) are very easy and ver efficetive too. have been recommended in many a glossy mag.

SheherazadetheGoat · 11/02/2008 09:27

dr hauschka is abit fancy dan. you can get it in some health shops (neals yard etc) or john lewis. if you go onto the webpage it gives you stockists near your postcode. you can also check out the prices and decide if it is worth it!

Tortington · 11/02/2008 09:28

Thanks i have got her wipes and witch foaming face wash and other stuff

yes i agree completely
smelly teenagers should wash

just have a wash dammit!

thanks am off

custy, I have very sensitive skin and many of the things that say they are for sensitive skin and actually lllllaaaadddden with perfumes.
The faoming wash you describe is a classic one, my skin can't cope with it.
Unfortunately this is a very expensive, thro away, trial and error thing.
"Simple" is good for me.
I try and leave the skin alone and go to town on eyes - LOADS of eyeshadow and lots of lippy - do you think your daughter would like that ?

Tortington · 11/02/2008 12:16

thanks ob

i think she has two problems

she has a big acne prob - compounded by lilly white skin type and make up usage.

she has recently gone blotchy with dry almost excema looking in parts.

i do what you do ob - eyes and gob - thats me - i can't stand gunk on mi face.

forgot to tell yout he rsult.

went to boots. there were lots of cucumber cleanser and toner things that were reduced to 69p, some eye makeup remover reduced to 69p reduced moisuriser.

i got two of each of those plus an eye gel that was reduced

nivea tinted moisturiser
and a NO7 powder.

it came to 20 odd quid - but its like fekkin xmas in here. she is so happy ...she is washing up!
