What's your hair like? What's your colouring like? Are you happy with your size? Where do you shop for clothes at the moment, and what sort of styles do you wear? (Sorry, questions, questions...)

StressTeddy · 11/02/2008 09:17

Hello komh
I'm no expert but thought (in true mn style) I would add my ten pence worth!

Please don't dump all the black - I think black works very well and can look very sophisticated
Just try accesorising things with some long black beads or black chokers or scarves. This might give your outfits the lift they need without breaking the bank
Also, personal shoppers are great. They should help you to find a good look for you
Make up - keep it simple but always wear mascara and lipstick/gloss
Good luck darling - let us know how it goes

They are free - debenhams do them amongst others
Re. the smokey eyes. The make up girls in dept stores would love to get their hands on you and show you how to do things like this
(You don't have to buy anything)

OK.

Tighter tops for start-off - give you some shape. Boot cut jeans/cords balance out top-heavy shape. If you are busty (guessing you are) Vneck fitted tshirt, fitted-ish jacket, boot legs, maybe scarf or long necklace generally looks nice.

If your ears are pierced, always wear earrings. Always blusher, mascara.

Am guessing you might be better in autumn colours? - so wear a bright coloured tshirt under a dark jacket if that helps you feel better. The bright top will 'lift' the black and prob flatter your complexion more.

StressTeddy · 11/02/2008 09:26

phone up the store and make an appointment - that way you don't have to ask them face to face for some time
you are getting a grip - that's why you are here!

Flier · 11/02/2008 09:26

here's Trinny and susannah's online shape calculator

Hello,

Its difficult to explain to someone how to apply make up i think without being there!!

I agree that its good to maybe wear mascara and lipgloss, maybe a bit of blusher. Also agree about asking for some help at the beauty counter in department store. Happily help for free and its lovely! This will definitely help.

Its sounds as though you have good colouring and probably dont need much hep. You hair sounds nice too.

You sound a very different shape to me. But jeans are always a good idea, so many types. Boot cut are always flattering,. mAKE sure they are a good length as ankle swingers are most unflattering. i always buy long length jeans, unless im wearing them with trainers/flip flops, then maybe a tad shorter than with boots/heels. Baggy tops make you look bigger. If you like showing a bit of clevage then id go for more v-necked styles as they look better with bigger boobs too. Not so much black maybe? I like black too, but other darker(or lighter!) colours can still look good.

Primark sounds fine, they do some good stuff, but i wouldnt just stick to the one shop. If you are looking for clothes that arent too expensive, also try H&M, MkOne, New Look, Asda, tesco

nailpolish · 11/02/2008 09:41

oh god dont wear white

if you arent brave enough to go to makeup counter
here youtube are good for videos of makeup tips - searched for 'smoky eyes' and got this one - dont necessarily go for that one - have a search around

carmenelectra · 11/02/2008 09:42

For smokey eyes(if you dont want beauty counter help!). Line top and bottom lids with black eyeliner and maybe smudge a bit with a cotton bud. Or try a dark eyeshadow and apply to top lid and blend under bottom lids slightly too. I find this works best with about 15 coats of mascara

nailpolish · 11/02/2008 09:43

do you have a bravissimo shop neabry

go in and get a fitting to make usre you have th right size - then you ahve a good foundation for all your other clothes

i went to bravissimo and it changed my life. i thought i was a 34D (thats what m&s and debenhams had measured me as ) but im acutally a 30F
