Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 01:30

I am on holiday for one week and would love to give myself a total retreat at home. Do any of you lovely people have any suggestions?

So far I have:
No salt
No alcohol
Bed at 10pm
Daily exercise
No fizzy juice
Pamper daily
Limited screen time

Am I missing anything?

Thanks so much for any help.

What a lovely idea!

Start (and maybe end) the day with yoga and/or meditation?
Oil burner or similar so your house smells lovely all the time?

Oh, and a fabulous book list.

Thank you @StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf yoga and meditation now added to my daily list. I have a oil burner from the 90s that I can dig out. Any recommendations on scents?

I never thought about books. Thanks for the reminder. I actually have a stack of books waiting to be read from lockdowns. I totally lost the ability to read during covid and last year.

With scents, I don't think you can go wrong with lavender for a bringing a sense of calm and balance. Geranium is also lovely for that.

Enjoy!

No processed food. I did a "you are what you eat week " a while ago and felt so much better for it.

Did you mention exercise and meditation? I can't look back to check.

Definitely, both of these are gorgeous and really calming

Roman camomile is also delicious but quite expensive

Create some habits that you can aim to continue. If you don’t already use a daily night cream/oil do so.

Get outdoors each day - either a walk or gardening.

Craft is also very good for relaxation. Colouring if you're not crafty.

Catch up on all the housework before your week off. So you aren’t tempted to do much. I wound probably have a declutter before. As clutter really gets on my nerves!

m maybe arrange a food shop delivery of things you you feel will be good for you etc …

get some walking routes planned?

Get outside as much as possible, cut out caffeine. If you must watch a screen , put on a ted talks about something you’re wondering about . Iv done some research on the least amount of time you need to meditate to get best results..12 min a day ( based on us marines ) if your going for it .. go vegan ! Enjoy 🙌

Read Tim Spector ‘spoon fed’. It changed my whole attitude to diet in the long run.

Have you ever done yoga or meditation before?

what is your lifestyle usually like?

For me - I’d want to factor In a run and a long walk

@StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf thank you will look at lavender.

@lmnabc have no processed food on my list. I have Tesco bringing all fruit and vegetables today. Glad to read you felt better after your week. Hopefully I feel the same this time next week.

@Ladybug14 will take a look at it. Thank you.

@TakeMe2Insanity that's a great tip, thank you. I've gotten out the way of using cream every night. Will start back tonight and hopefully carry it on.

@carriedout thank you. Will add getting outside everyday. I never thought about the garden it does need a source up after winter. Will add to my list. I am not good at crafts. Just looked out a jigsaw to do.

@Palm7rees will blitz the house today to get it all done. I have a tesco arriving later today full of natural foods. You have reminded me that I have a book of local walks will dig that out. I decluttered over the winter and popped it into the charity shop. Thank you.

@Lulu1919 thank you. I will take a look.

@Radical0pal I would love no TV for a week but unfortunately dh loves his TV. We will be limiting it though. We could arrange a few no TV nights.

@Popetthetreehugger thank you. Will look at some vegan recipes.

@Lcb123 thank you. Will look that book up.

@Vegrocks yeah I've done both before. I was into yoga then it went out the window. I did notice how much relaxed I was when doing it before. Over the winter I have turned into a lazy slob and have only been doing a few walks a week. I have never been able to run but have factored in some outside walks.

@Evelynbrown thank you.

Thanks everyone lots of fab ideas. I have added in a manicure and pedicure. Plus a few long baths with face mask, body scrub etc.

Don't know if you have the budget but book yourself a massage for early in the week if at all possible.

Report
Diorinthecountry · 06/03/2023 16:13

I did think about a massage as it's something that I would like to try. Unfortunately I have a thing were I absolutely hate people touching me it freaks me out and makes me panic.

What about a reiki session? They are completely touch free and would be a nice way to realign your energy after a week of self care Smile

Be careful of oils if you have a cator dog some, including lavender are toxic to them

@MissKittyFantastico84 that sounds interesting.

Just remembered that I need to re start face roller/face yoga daily also.

You know that you’ll while away the week indulging in treats, binging on box sets and absolutely not doing a jot of meditation don’t you?! 😂
