Suitable for a wedding guest?

I am going to a wedding in April. First in quite a while and most of my suitable dresses no longer fit.

I stumbled up on this dress which is in the sale: www.ghost.co.uk/una-dress-d04g034-z25?pk_cid=1&pk_keyword=5059814082738&pk_medium=multifeeds&pk_campaign=Google&pk_source=Google&pk_content=ClothingAccessoriesClothingDresses&utm_source=Google

I don't think the drab photos do it justice. I love the style and it's the kind of dress I'd wear again. I think colour would suit me (I'm a Light Spring in the seasonal colour system). I have long wavy dark hair. Thinking hair half up with a pretty gold clip. Pretty sandals. Make up done nicely... a bright lip perhaps. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

I'll be going to the wedding with two small children so ideally want to be comfortable and not wearing something restrictive.

I'm just not sure it's "dressy" enough for a wedding?

I agree. I quite like the dress, but it very much has a "Von trapp children running around Salzburg in curtains" vibe.

I quite like it, but I'm not sure it's dressy enough. It's a bit 'day dress'.

Looks very comfy and that’s what you want of your chasing after little tackers.
I like the vintage pattern.

I give it a vote for yes

bling it up with pretty jewellery and cute sandals Not all weddings require you to dress OTT. Being comfortable is a far more flattering look than tottering around in heels that’s are too high or clothes that are too small and restrictive

Plenty of ladies wear dresses like that to weddings all the time so if it suits you go for it.

I would wear this to a wedding. I think it works well for a spring wedding. I guess thought that it depends a bit on what the day will be like. Is the venue more formal? Or do you know the couple well enough to ask what kind of vibe there will be?

It looks lovely and very much something I would wear. I have a similar Ghost dress that I wear to all kinds of occasions as they are easy to dress up or down depending. I’ve worn my dress with high satin mules and flat wrap around sandals so really quite versatile. Check out the sales in Next, JL and ASOS for Ghost.

I wouldn’t personally wear it as it looks like an everyday dress but it’s nice enough.

GoodChat · 05/03/2023 08:59

It lovely but I think a small heel would make it look smarter than sandals

MissMaple82 · 05/03/2023 09:02

It's perfectly fine, and a lovely dress, doesn't have the von trapped vibe whatsoever!
"Not dressy enough" is ridiculous to me, it's a lovely dress! Wear it and be comfortable

Thank you for replies. A bit mixed but I think just coming down on the side that it would be OK if dressed up appropriately.

The wedding is in an old barn, so fairly relaxed. And the couple are chilled and really not the kind of people who will care what anyone wears. It's basically a 12 hour day (arrive at 11am and depart at 11pm) so I'd much rather be comfortable and a tad under dressed TBH.

I'll have to think about shoes, as I don't normally wear heels these days - but I do have a pretty pair of white heels that might look OK with something like this.

Thanks again for the replies, think I'll order it and see what it's like on.

I like it, it sounds like it would work perfectly for that occasion.
