Are all hairdryers the same?

They blow air and have variable heat settings. Are certain brands better than others? Is there an additional techy component to them beyond blowing air?

I'm excluding those awful tiny travel/hotel ones from this question.

No definitely they are different

My very old (it was at least 15 years old) hairdrier broke recently and i bought a new mid priced once and i was really unhappy with it. It went from either fairly cold to so hot it burnt without a heat setting inbetween which meant that it took nearly an hour to dry my shortish but thick hair

I bought a more expensive one on a reccomendation and it dries my hair in 15 minutes without burning my scalp

You should look for a hairdryer with a decent wattage (1800+)

With that being said, I have recently dropped to 1400 for my Shark Flexstyle and it has been much kinder on my hair

I never really thought they were different but I am absolutely obsessed with my Dyson. It was disgusting expensive but dries my hair so so fast but doesn't make it feel damaged.

Weirdly my cheap crappy travel hair dryer is better than the mid range price proper hair dryer.
