Invisalign- help me!!

Got my Invisalign on Wednesday. The appointment itself was fine, and when wearing it’s fine. However removing it is so horrifically painful, I feel like I am literally pulling my teeth out, eating, brushing my teeth and putting back in is equally as painful.

is this it now for the next 17 weeks?!?!

Try as hot a drink as you can bear held in your mouth for a shaker period before you whip them out.
It dies get easier x

It gets easier very quickly. I did manage to dislodge attachments for a few weeks and had to keep going back to the dentist but then I became a pro. I 'unclipped' each side at the back then held the front and pulled forward and down/up as I removed it.

I've still got them but no attachments now, so they come in and out more like a retainer.

I have fixed braces so don’t know anything about removing Invisalign but from my experience it’s normal for the teeth to be quite sensitive and painful in the early days.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 03/03/2023 07:55

Don't do the hot drink thing, it can damage the aligners!!!

It does get easier after a week or so.

TheCovidHalfStone · 03/03/2023 08:13

Have you got one of the hook things to take them out? It definitely gets easier.

wyntersuhn · 03/03/2023 09:20

It gets a lot easier to remove them, hang in there.

Mummyspider27 · 03/03/2023 09:25

It’s not the removal I find difficult, it’s the pain!! Glad it gets easier! X

Had a consultation this week! Little nervous.

Timide · 03/03/2023 09:32

It will be easier very soon. Don't worry.

The best thing I have invested into!!!! The result will be amazing!

Augustone · 03/03/2023 13:52

Things do get easier, I promise. The first few days are definitely the worse but it does get better. I had Invisalign a few years ago and it was worth the money and temporary pain.

Take Paracetamol if you need it for the first couple of days and good luck.

Yorkshiredolls · 21/08/2023 17:08

Hi OP just interested in how did you get on with invsialign in the end? Did it settle down quickly like people suggested?

Im on day one of an alternative aligners system. Day one of my new teeth journey eek

Im not in pain as such, maybe achy pressure type feeling but I’m definitely uncomfortable and hoping I get used to it soon! Ive invested quite a lot of money in this so Ive just gotta deal with it I guess.

Are you 'unhooking' each side at the back first and then pulling it down and forwards? I found that to be the easiest way, although at first I had to put a paper towel on my finger to be able to grip them. It definitely gets easier! Now I just wear a retainer at night and I'm a pro at taking that out at this stage

millymog11 · 21/08/2023 18:55

if you don't mind disclosing, how much does your invisilign cost for the whole treatment?

Purpleavocado · 21/08/2023 21:38

First week is the worst, paracetamol helps!

catsandkid · 21/08/2023 21:47

Top tip - get a cheap ortho key off Amazon. It's a plastic hook thing that you use to unhook aligners from the back and it makes taking them off an absolute breeze!

I'm 5 months in (on refinements and only 4 weeks left!) and still use my ortho key every time!

pinksheetss · 21/08/2023 21:48

I'm currently through mine, couple weeks to go (it has worked WONDERS btw). Mine was a 15 week and then needed an extra 10 trays which we are doing at 5 days a tray. Genuinely can't believe how much it's worked for me

I found the first week or so hard to take them out. There was no pain wearing them and not pain exactly taking them out, more the fear that I was taking the whole tooth. I didn't each much that first but because I dreaded taking them out to eat.
It did get better very quickly though, I pop them out like second nature now

For the poster asking about cost, I was 4K for mine. Sounds a lot but with the results I have from it it's worth every penny to me!
