Am going back to work but look like Pete Doherty as ds still waking several times a night. That's not going to stop any time soon so need something to make me look marginally less haggard...dh off to NYC next week so can pick up bargains if I brief him well. Any tips? I used to use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm which was fine. Is that the best bet?

I swear by Guerlain Midnight Secret. It is bloody expensive, and not likely to be that much cheaper in US as French brand (obviously!) but maybe with the dollar rate???? It's specifically designed to make you look like you've had a full nights sleep if you get to bed "after midnight". For the party girl (ha!) or the exhausted mum!!!

I also love Bliss Spa's triple oxygen five minute face mask - you will def get this cheaper in the US - they have a spa and a shop in NY. Have you ever tried any of their products?

Finally - eye cream that is amazing by Korner...but hard to find. Space NK used to carry it - last time I saw it was in Selfridges...but that is only any use if you are London based...

beat me to it with Midnight Secret - will be cheapest in duty free. Flash Balm also has a good rep and if you know it works...

(bargainously, the body shop vit c serum is meant to be good too)

Am seriously toying with placing an order for Midnight Secret - have heard good things aout it. Love Bliss stuff - but haven't tried the face mask. Will give them both a go. If the pesky child would just sleep for more than 2 hours at a time I could save myself ££££

is the eye con better than the bo~ing?

brimfull · 10/02/2008 14:45

what's so good about this Midnight Secret stuff?

Is it a cream?

flowerybeanbag · 10/02/2008 14:51

chocspiders I use boi-ing to cover up my circles, works a treat.

Never tried eye-con..

MrsBadger · 10/02/2008 14:51

yes - the theory is you smear it on when you get home from Chinawhite at 3am and wake up at 7 looking dewy and refreshed and not haggard at all
IRL it plumps, depuffs and degreys

Eye-con is a cream to fade dark circles over time, Boi-ing is a concealer to hide them.

flowerybeanbag · 10/02/2008 14:55

Does eye-con work?

I like touche eclat as well, but just wanted to mention I bought the no7 equivalent and it is fab,if not better as it's more moisturising and £12!

Shhhh · 10/02/2008 16:16

Apparently clarins have just launched a new cream which is meant to be a gym workout for your face and is marvelous at hiding the effects of a hangover..SURELY 4 hours sleep is on par to a hangover (obviously minus the booze.)..??!!!!

Its called younger longer balm..yet its priced at.............wait for it..............a staggering £62... Lets hope its good for that price..!!!!

Shhhh · 10/02/2008 16:17

BTW for bfb don't forget island cosmetics..cheapest around atm and mner's get a discount....

expatinscotland · 10/02/2008 16:20

even cheaper: get a bottle of Optrex refreshening drops.

and the makeup in the world won't help if you're eyes are all bloodshot from sleep deprviation.

soak a green tea bag in cold water first.

clap it over puffy eyes for about five minutes.

then put drops in.

then do your makeup.

green tea bags + Optrex drops also good for hangover-out-too-late eyes.

SilentTerror · 10/02/2008 17:13

smallwhitecat I am liking the idea of looking like a new woman......

Sycamoretree · 10/02/2008 19:37

Guerlain also do their version of Touche Eclat which has an eye cream/gel type of thing in it. I prefer it - Molton Brown's is also good and much cheaper....
