Smarter shoes as comfortable as trainers? Or very smart trainers?

I have a work event for several days which involves loads of walking.

I'll be wearing skirts and dresses. Definitely no heels. But from experience loafers, brogues etc even with no heel are still torture after the first couple of days. I'm walking back and forth between venues and otherwise standing, and the hours are long - plus going to and from accommodation.

Anyone recommend a shoe which works with business clothes but feels as much like a trainer as possible?

Or do I just need v smart trainers?

Men will be in suits or in blazers and chinos, there will probably be some jeans and blazers too, to give an idea.

If men are likely to be in jeans and blazers I'd definitely go for a very smart pair of trainers.

Mint Velvet do great trainers that look smart and are really comfortable: www.mintvelvet.co.uk/collections/all-footwear?filtered=%5Bproduct_type=trainers%5D

2nd clicky link works better!

Cinnamonandcoal · 23/02/2023 10:00

Thanks! I like the Belle ones.
To be fair most won't be in jeans but I'm sure there will be some. Traditionally it's all suits but has got a bit more casual.

Wondered about these too from all saints?

Or I might try ECCO and Clarks for comfy loafers.

Would any of these work for you:
Option 1 (in the full black or in the white/pink colour scheme)
Option 2
Option 3
Option 4
Option 5
Option 6

You might find something on the Ecco site but the one thing I would say to you, unless the shoes you end up wearing are trainers/runners, do not try to break a pair of new shoes in before an event. Ever. Your feet will not appreciate it.

I'd 100% wear trousers and trainers. Have a look at Jigsaw's new spring collection, fabulous trousers suits styled with trainers.

Cinnamonandcoal · 23/02/2023 13:08

Unfortunately I look like crap in a trouser suit because I'm short and curvy. So will only be in dresses!

These loafers from Ecco?

Thank you for starting this thread - I have exactly the same coming up! Looking at these options with interest.

soboredtonight · 23/02/2023 13:40

Would you wear biker style boots? Mine are very comfy?

Wonder whether it's the same event!

I do have biker boots but the wrong feel for this.

I've got some of these:

sloafer.com/

They're a good hybrid and look smart

Coffeepot72 · 24/02/2023 18:33

You might find it easier to choose an outfit that works with your footwear, not the other way round? I have very unhelpful feet (no medical issues, just feet that don’t like shoes) and this advice tends to work for me

Testng123 · 24/02/2023 18:39

Ara high soft. www.ara-shoes.co.uk/women/functions/highsoft/

Clarks Griffin Lane are incredibly comfortable. I have a silver pair which are my favourite conference shoes when I'll be on my feet 9 hours a day

martinisforeveryone · 24/02/2023 18:53

I find an ankle boot with a 'sensible' heel comfortable. Just an idea.
Not necessarily this one
www.next.co.uk/style/st265254/t70117#t70117
but am sure you could find something that works with a skirt or dress and a colour to go with.

Whataretheodds · 24/02/2023 18:55

Try Ecco or Hotter.

You need a slight lift at the heel, not totally flat, and some arch suport on the inner.

Cinnamonandcoal · 24/02/2023 20:37

Great ideas thanks so much for the suggestions. Haven't seen the sloafer or ara ones before so will definitely check them out and the Griffin Lane too.

Tried on the trainers from All Saints today and they are the wrong shape for my feet unfortunately.

I do have comfortable smart flats in my wardrobe but I know from experience that 5 days of walking around is just too much for them.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 24/02/2023 20:53

If you can find any Aerosoles then they're definitely comfortable. I've got a pair of loafer style that I've walked miles in without any problems. Generally I hate buying shoes, and now I only buy ones which have a soft sole.

Pourmeanotherwine · 24/02/2023 20:57

I wear flat ankle boots from Hotter for work and could walk all day in them if I needed to.

WhyDoesItAlways · 24/02/2023 21:05

I have these dunes I wear for work. You can get different colours, I have navy suede.

Cantonet · 24/02/2023 21:06

Vionic are generally very comfy & have arch support. If you don't need arch support then fitflop are brilliant with soft squishy soles. Plus they both come in a multitude of styles.

whatadaythatwas · 24/02/2023 21:32

Can you take a second pair so you can change it up? I've found that has helped over multiple days on my feet before
