Under eye area really starting to look awful 😖 Help!

Tulips365 · 17/02/2023 09:39

Hi,

So my under eye area is really starting to age me it's genuinely really getting me down. I'm not really sure why tbh. Think it's hollows rather than puffiness, although I do definitely get a little bit of that too. I definitely have shadows, presumably from the hollows and thinner skin. I don't really have bad lines (apart from when I smile) so that's one thing!

I've tried all sorts of creams. Low end to high end. Facial massage, pressure points, icing, tea bags, caffeine serums, drinking more water (very recently though) colour correctors with concealer, colour correctors without concealers, but nothing seems to work.

I'm only 38, but this is bothering me much more than it should. Much more than my slightly jowling face or thinning hair. It makes me look almost skeletal and ill.

I'd be terrified of trying fillers, but I suspect this is what will be suggested. Dp has begged me not to go down that route also.

Any other suggestions? Even if it just helps a little.

TIA

From what you describe I think you'll just be throwing money away on lotions and potions that don't have any effect. Tear trough fillers, when done by a competent and experienced professional, could work brilliantly. I've been having them done for around 10 years now. Nothing else works and they make such a difference.

Tulips365 · 17/02/2023 10:16

@AgathaX I do hear that, but any risk to the eyes really does put me off. Where do you have yours? If you don't mind me asking.

I have this.

A light suntan helps. So does well-defined eye makeup and, unsurprisingly, decent sleep.

I don't think you can change it - it's just contours of your face.

TabithaTiger · 17/02/2023 10:31

My under eyes are the same, it really gets me down as I always look tired. I'd like to try tear trough fillers but they're so expensive. I've given up wasting money on lotions and potions.

Tulips365 · 17/02/2023 10:59

@SleepyRooster I had heard that a slight tan can help balance you out. I much prefer being pale, but maybe I'll give it a go, with some of those tanning drops.

@TabithaTiger yes, tired is the word 😒

I have the same, and I was surprised to notice that my DD does too, even at 5! So it's genetics as much as anything else.

The only things that help for me are:

  1. Enough sleep
  2. Enough water
  3. A light fake tan
  4. Two layers of concealer – one colour-correcting (I need a lot of orange to counteract the grey) and one brightening.
cocopops11 · 17/02/2023 12:03

I have the same thing @Tulips365 . I've had tear trough fillers twice both with very qualified doctors, with only a minimal result really. I've kinda realised now that its more related to my bone structure

AmongUs · 17/02/2023 13:36

I have dark lines and hollows under both eyes. I'm hoping to try Vice Reversa under eye micro masks as the before and after pics look good. No amount of concealer works and fillers not for me as size of needle enough to put me off

cilary · 17/02/2023 13:39

Op that comes to us all due to orbital eye area fat loss, I’m getting it too and same age as you and I can’t do any invasive stuff as I have surgery enough for a health condition.

Completely agree with everyone else, sleep and stress are the big two that show in the face so I always try to work on those first, after sorting those two I’m always more inclined to eat healthier and walk more etc. Also agree with above; brightening products and then concealer on top can give a bit more plump/volume look.

foodtoorder · 17/02/2023 13:50

Why not look at skin boosters i stead of fillers?

Fairylightsandstuff · 17/02/2023 13:58

I think if drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep are t making a difference then tear trough fillers are your best bet. It makes a massive difference when done properly.

sara746 · 14/03/2023 10:18

@foodtoorder I agree, I've recently had a skin booster treatment and seen a huge difference

Tulips365 · 14/03/2023 11:41

@sara746 what is this exactly? Profilo? I hear very mixed reviews around that.

@Tulips365 It was called Seventy Hyal 2000, was recommended to me by a friend that does aesthetics. There were some good before and afters on their site which is what made me choose it

CamoFlamingo · 17/03/2023 06:54

Mine are the same. I booked myself in for tear trough fillers but changed my mind and have decided to go for a tiny amount of cheek filler instead as apparently that alone can help the eye hollows look a little less apparent. If it doesn't work I may reconsider tear trough but I'd prefer to avoid it for as long as possible because of the risks to the eye area.

Polynucleotides!! Amazing!

Emjeet · 17/12/2023 06:46

Hey I know this thread is old but I had to respond to say, when you’re going to bed at night, massage in a decent amount of moisturiser under your eyes and then lather a healthy coating of Vaseline (just the good old plain petroleum jelly stuff) over the top and that locks your moisturiser in to work over night.
using Vaseline on its own does nothing as it’s not a moisturiser, it needs the moisturiser first and it acts as a barrier to stop the moisturiser drying out overnight.

ive done this for the past 3 nights now and my under eye area has never looked so good since my early 20’s (I’m 42 now and the crepey fine lines were really getting me down!)

my under-eyes are plumped and glowing with a fresh dewey look and it really does make a world of difference. I’ve started doing my whole face and it has got rid of patchy blemished areas and my skin tone is now even and my whole face just looks years younger!

just make sure you cover your pillow with a towel so you’re not coating it in Vaseline as you sleep!!

Jaxneen · 18/02/2024 09:18

Have you tried polynucleotides. I have the same problem and I've decided to give it a go

Skintdancemum · 18/02/2024 09:20

I had polynucleotide and it literally made no difference. I may as well have set fire to over £1000 🤣

WinterMorn · 18/02/2024 09:49

Can anyone recommend a good place for fillers in Surrey?

Gwenhwyfar · 18/02/2024 10:42

I have filler and use IT Cosmetics concealer, the best I've found so far. They are still bad enough that my doctor asked if I had a black eye once before she realised they were the same on both sides. Filler pads out the skin underneath, but it doesn't really take away the dark colour ime.
For me the filler was noticeable for me, but not for others, so you don't have to tall your DH about it and he might not notice.

foodtoorder · 18/02/2024 20:57

@Jaxneen where are you going that they charge you £1000??
This shouldn't cost anymore than £2-300. I guess practitioners can charge what they want though.

foodtoorder · 18/02/2024 21:02

@WinterMorn depending on what treatment you're looking for and you're near London it might be worth going to a training school as a model.
Dermatologist institute and Harley academy only train medics and you go on their training days for heavily discounted treatments which are all very closely observed by doctors who've been practicing for years.
Lots of expertise in one room and they use high end products.
