Thinking of buying a Mulberry Roxy Bag ( preloved)

I am thinking of buying a Roxy bag in darwin leather and wondered what people’s experiences with it are in terms of being fiddly to open etc.

I'm a big fan of Mulberry (three Bayswaters, two Anthonys, an Amberley and a Dan) but the only one I have ever sold on was a Roxy. I found it to be very heavy and clunky, and yes, the fastenings were a nuisance. Love the look of them, but just not for me.

Wondrous blast from the past! I had one of these back in the day, they’re built like tanks! The quality was so good, so I’m guessing the one you’re thinking of will be in pretty good nick even if it hasn’t been babied. But I agree with the previous poster in that they are a fiddle, bulky to carry and not good on the shoulder. Weighs a ton too.

I’ve got an oak Darwin one and did have a black one which I sold.
You need to love a big heavy bag and enjoy moving flaps and buckles around!

Make sure it is genuine though, as it was massively counterfeited backin the day.

I have one. It’s excellent quality but heavy and cumbersome. Not used it since the 00s! The smaller Rosemary bag is probably a better design.

I’ve had 2 Roxanne’s in the past, an original in Darwin which was very heavy and then a rereleased outlet special from about 8-10 years ago. They were both sold on as I found them too bulky and boxy. They were replaced with a preloved Rosemary which I still have and is much more practical. The shoulder strap is also useful.

Oh I loved my Roxanne aesthetically, but clunky and heavy and just too inconvenient really.

classic comeback fashion though!

I got one last year and don’t find it too fiddly. Still looks like new - check for complete rivets as these are quite common to be lost.

I’d be buying from a store that specialises in selling pre loved designer and top end high street. I have always wanted one but don’t want to make a big mistake and the Rosemary had gone through my mind too.

I’ve just dusted off my old black rosemary on the back of this thread, time to use it again!

I had one many years ago and although I loved how it looked it was heavy, awkward to carry and awkward to get into.

I still have an Alexa which is better but still a bit faffy to get in and out of. Prefer it to the Bayswater which was always too dressy for my style.

My best bag out all if the designer ones I've had is a Kipling Gabby S, not in the same league but it's light, incredibly roomy and just so practical.

I have an early black Roxanne somewhere. It used to shed rivets as the leather is so thick. I had them replaced by Mulberry.

It used to be my daily work bag but I haven't used it for years. Maybe it's time to get it back out
